Am I the only one who hasn't started yet? No projects done, no boxes or totes of decorations out....nothing
Why, you ask? Well, I've been begging for my own shed or storage area for a year now (without any luck), so ALL of my Halloween stuff is under my house, which wouldn't be a problem if it didn't require dismantling skirting and taking apart the lower bowels of our place (a/k/a Hell) to get to it. So, without my hubby's help, I can't get to my stuff.
Combine his lack of enthusiasm (and a badly broken leg), and you get....me.
Let's see: work, school, home and how many days left? Oh yeah, not to mention it starts snowing here in October. What could possibly go wrong? Sorry for the long post, I know someone out there in Halloween Forum land would understand.

Won't get to it for a couple weeks. We also are not purchasing anything this year. We bought a new Lemax building and that is it for the year.
We have been waffling on having a party or not, and it's looking like we won't, which means MOST of our stuff in bins won't even come out this year.

Don't stress Booberrie, you will get to it when you can. Trust me the kids will love it whether its been up for a day or a month, they won't know the difference.
I threw a small 40th birthday party for my husband this weekend and have put a couple of things out in my home. Not a lot but I've just started, the comments I got were, 'Wow, you have Halloween stuff out already???' lol
As I was going up the stair, I saw a man that wasn't there.
He wasn't there again today...Oh how I wish he'd go away.

I'm way behind school between school, work and doctor visits I've had basically no time. So gonna be playing a lot of catch up and still working how to build my new props. It will be done though.

As excuses go for not helping out, a broken leg is pretty darn good!
Me, I'm just a slacker!!

One of our main helpers has moved from MN to Oregon several years ago.
He was back last year but, left again before maze demolition. The majority of our party guests are going to college this Fall but, promise to be there however unlikely. We normally start this weekend but didn't. It takes 40-50 hrs to build & another 25 hrs to completely tear down.
I asked for volunteers to help build it across multiple forums & friends... nada.
It looks very grim at this point.

You're not alone! I put up a spiderweb, spider, and "Happy Halloween" yard sign...and that's it. Yes, I am moving, and I have to take it down soon, but still. I hope that makes you feel at least a tiny bit better?

Dont feel bad. I would say tackle "Hell" your self. Maybe with help of a friend to help you dig, one box at a time? I am sorry to hear about the hubby's broken leg. It will be all right.

BooBerrie...I understand! This year I inherited an entire girls haunt...and I mean HUGE props...full size organ, guillotine, two coffins....the list goes on, and on, and on...two 6 x 12 Uhauls, plus my H2 filled two times, two different trips... half of our garage is full....back to front, floor to ceiling...
So, this year we are having our first open house...full lighting, props, fire pit, body toss game, PVC Candles, tombstones with rebar, autopsy table, frankenstiens lab, candy buffet. So..this is what I have done so far...
PVC Candles are cut and filled with foam
One tombstone, out of thirty, finished and secured to use rebar in the ground
Jars and a few bags of candy for buffet
NOTHING ELSE. We dont even have a fire pit for the cook out...mmm....
Oh, and heres the other problem.....
Our main floor has....no walls, ceiling, floor, kitchen, laundry room, bathroom, running water, or office.
We are in the middle of a huge remodel that is not scheduled to be done until mid October. My husband was asking for Soy Sauce the other night....I told him to look in the dining room, that it may be in box in between my desk and the dryer. I cant even find a spoon right now... Plus DH, who is my only helper, will be out of town for two more weekends before Halloween. I havent even dealt with my own props in the attic (which i have at least what I inherited, maybe more!) Candles need finished. Need to MAKE the body toss game.
To top it off, we have family coming in town from Mississippi, Chicago, Ft. Wayne and Wisconsin to see what all the fuss is about. (i make a big deal about Hallowenn, why must they pick THIS year to come???) So you know what??? I understand...and somehow, someway...it will all come together for me. And it will for you too!!! Hang in there!"It's Halloween, everyone's entitled to one good scare."
