With the exception of Target, I've seen all of the Halloween offerings our local store ahve and it isn't very impressive.
Places I've crossed off the list so far; Walmart, Kmart, Michaels, AC Moore, Walgreens; Nothing that remotely interests me. I used to get jazzed about visiting all these places but anymore it's a bust.
Still may hit Party City and Spirit a couple times but even they aren't very impressive.

Walgreens is crossed off my list because I already got what I wanted there. For Kmart, and Target, I might still go back depending on whether or not Ace has the electric eyeballs. Kmart and Target both have battery eyeballs, and probably what I would do is buy a cheap white light set (Christmas one), and just put those eyeballs from either Kmart or Target onto them, and use those battery lights for something I barely turn on.
For Wal-Mart, it wasn't set up at all, so I don't know. I checked a smaller Ace, and hopefully another one will have more Halloween. I crossed off Family Dollar. Bought the $3 skull, and that's all I wanted from there. The cutout stores (basically certain Party stores) I'm going to skip this year, and the reason being is because I got all the Beistle cutouts I wanted from the Internet mostly. And I have so many cutouts that it's hard to resist them, so going to a party store with cutouts isn't a good idea.
For me, the animatronics this year are nothing really special. For a few years now, I always got maybe even 2 animatronics a year, but they seem to totally stink this year. I'm not talking about the life-size ones though. I don't buy the life-size ones.
Meijer I'm not going back for Halloween. They had a bunch of nothing good there."Dollar Tree - The High Price to Pay for $1 Prices" China stuff, taking out other stores, around every corner - 136 in 100 miles, poor wages for employees. - I only say this because people say the same stuff about Wal-Mart, but than they go to Dollar Tree.

Hey jdubbya, I have been making quite a few props the last three years, and now when I go to Spirit or other Halloween stores I look at their merchandise and think I can make that. I also notice a lot of items seem to be very cheap looking, now I go and look to get some ideas but that is about it.

Other than the kitchen/dining stuff at Target, everything is pretty much the same as every other year so I get what you mean. Nothing to get too excited about...

Target's offerings didn't impress me this year, nor did Walgreen's or CVS's. Big Lots had one cute (and I do mean "cute") thing and their bluckies are like $14!
Even Garden Ridge was a washout this year, and I can usually count on them to have at least a couple of little things that I want.
There's no Spirit near me this year, but the Halloween Express nearest me didn't have anything that I hadn't seen or was at all interested in. It's all either gore or way overpriced.
Despite being disappointing, I guess it's not that bad. It saves me $!Gothikim

It's just kind of sad that there seems to be a noticeable downward trend in the overall variety/quality of Halloween offerings every year. I'm sure some of these things appeal to some folks but I can recall going into Spirit 4-5 years ago and seeing some really unique stuff. Maybe we just become Halloween snobs after awhile, knowing what we can make on our own. I agree, not much to spend money on this year so my bank account is happy.
