It's September 17th, and I am just waiting for a few more items to be delivered from my online purchasing. I am just ITCHING to start my decorating but I'm torn between if 1)It's just too early; I originally planned for OCT 1.
2)Or, should I go ahead and get my fix and set up a few items, gradually adding more.
3)Wait until at least OCT 1, and blow everyone away with the complete setup before anyone has a chance to bore from seeing them already.
I'm also a little worried that if I were to leave the house, then my props would be stolen. This is my first year celebrating in this neighborhood, so I am not sure what to expect. Another factor is that I am hearing not many people celebrate around here, or just don't put up decorations. My goal is encourage those who are travelling down my street to see my yard haunt and think "oh that is somewhere we should remember to visit on Halloween" If I do it all far ahead, the more people will see it before hand.
Any advice on what I should do is appreciated. How far ahead do you all start and do you set it up all at once?

IMO, its never too early to get into the spirit. Personally, I've seen at least 10 homes around my area fully decorated already! Heck, one of em is directly on a busy street. So if you're in the mood, go for it!

This seems like the best option to me
Perhaps, everyday add a new prop, and move postions of props already set up to spook the neighbors

I love the fact that some of you have countdown signs! I haven't ever seen that before, and wish I had one. I ended up caving in and pulled out the halloween bins about a half hour ago
. I have a lot of lit up items ($80 worth of house bordering lights alone), so maybe I will just wait to plug them all in so I still have the element of surprise going on, at least lol
Horrorfinatic: I liked your idea of moving my props around lol. I think this would also help keep it fresh for me
Wow, I am just soooo excited!

I have been cutting lumber for weeks and staging it on the side of my house so I can throw up my Frankenstein castle theme up on 10/1. We started out back and inside weeks ago but we don't want to get our neighborhood nazis worked up too early.

If you are ready and willing, Just do it!!! Your neighbors will have more inspirational time to go buy their props or decorations!
A Halloween prop is a terrible thing to waste..
