The Halloween addiction continues with my Walmart review. I went to one in the Simi Valley and they had at least 5 aisles of stuff.
1. One aisle was all costumes and wigs and the like. Wasnt too impressed.
2. I grade a store by the "must haves".... props or decorations that you have to buy. Walmart had only one...the lenticular pictures with VOICES and LIGHTS. They have a dracula and a woman. Their eyes light up when you pass by and they say stuff. A must have at $10.00. I bought one of each.
3. I also bought a monster in a cage for $15.00, I'm guessing the cage is made of cloth as its so cheap I cant imagine its gonna be quality.
4. They had two candy dishes with hands that grabbed you when you reached for the grub. $10.00
5. I bought a lighted up "Happy Halloween" sign for $5.00...a steal.
6. A gross hand thing that stands straight up and wiggles its fingers. I didnt buy this for $15.00.
7. I almost bought a mister in a black cauldron for $20.00, but it didnt look like it misted all that much.
8. They had a dropping skeleton head for $15.00...think thats too much so I passed.
9. They also had police crime scene tape that said different things...I bought 2. One said "warning" one said "haunted house".
10. They had a lifesize skeleton butler and a lifesize witch...not special. All the cool stuff I got online at Walmart.com wasnt there...nothing.
11. Some airblown stuff but I hate that kiddie crap. Whats scary about an inflatable cat.
12. Giant rat and smaller rats. The giant rat was neat if you like rats.
13. I bought some cobbwebbing for $2.00, this year I think I'm buying the cool red and white cobwebs from Party City. I saw it in the store and was impressed.
14. One thing I forgot to buy was a spider tealight holder. For $3.00, I forgot to get it. That Walmart is so ghetto, I dont want to go back there. It was a very unique tealight holder...big mistake by me, as it would cost me $4.00 in gas just to go back.
All in all Walgreens is the undisputed champ. I'm going to Target now but I cant imagine them beating Walgreens.
Walmart had tons of stuff, rows and rows of it, but only a handfull of truly unique items. Walgreens the first time was like dieing and going to Halloween heaven.
Spirit store was so mediocre, I'm not even doing a review. When you push the buttons the displays dont even work. The clown guy was broken already, they had only 2 including the display.

I was also impressed by WalMart this year. Our local had 5 aisles and had aboout 80 percent filled. We'll be heading out in a couple days to see what else has been put out.

I'll be hitting Walmart soon but I really wanted to wait because two weeks ago it was heavy on school supplies. Sounds like they did alot better than last year. I'm sure whoever was the buyer for dept 18 last year got smacked for the crap they pulled. Remember stores have no say when it comes to holiday merchandise, that all comes from home office and the buyers.
I can't wait to see Walgreens, so far I've been most impressed with Big Lots. Rite Aid wasn't to bad either.

The Monster in a cage sounds interesting.
"Dollar Tree - The High Price to Pay for $1 Prices" China stuff, taking out other stores, around every corner - 136 in 100 miles, poor wages for employees. - I only say this because people say the same stuff about Wal-Mart, but than they go to Dollar Tree.

Our Wal-mart is in remodel mode and only has candy-no costumes, no props. Remodel is supposed to be done in November, so I don't know if they will put stuff out, but then move it around weekly.
I bought a mister in a skull from Wal-mart two years ago. It actually has a pretty cool effect, so I will be checking out the caldron.
Thanks for the update as I have been too lazy to drive to the next nearest Wal-mart which is 25 miles away!

Our WalMart has most of its stuff out and I must say, it is much more impressive than last year, which was almost nothing but cheesy party supplies and costumes.
I love the giant rat. May have to pick one up when I go back.Dear Sweet Leota, Beloved By All. In Regions Beyond Now But Having a Ball...
