We all save things knowing we could use that for a piece on a prop . I thought it would be cool knowing what odd or piece of junk or something from the garbage did you use on a prop.
Ive used old radio tubes in my lab scene. Ive used a kitty litter top for the top of my alien spacecraft one year. This should be interesting!

Paint roller tray - upside down - as part of lab equipment.
An old octogon shaped table we were going to toss got covered with cobwebs, then I stuffed a Frankenstein mask with newspaper, put it in a large clear plastic snack mix jug, added some details and had a nice looking addition to the lab scene.
    Carboard tubes for prison bars.
Old TV innards, dials, etc. as parts of lab equipment. Same with odd glassware.
Odd looking plastic strainer as part of lab equipment...really, most of my lab stuff was made out of odds and ends. I find myself looking at thngs in all different ways, to determine if it can be used for Halloween. I approach yard sales the same way.

we had an old scissors type retractable wooden baby gate that we were going to throw away. I looked at it and it hit me. I cut it up and made it into a 7 foot skeleton. It didn't look real, but I got a lot of compliments.
Abandon hope all ye who enter here.

We have two old inflatable pool pumps for 12 ft and 18 ft pools. We plan to do some REALLY big blood colored water powered props. Like: A house that drips (uh gushes) blood. River o blood. Giant fountain of blood. We waste NOTHING!

Stuffed grocery bags filled out my gravedigger's body last year, old leakey styrofoam ice chest became a cemetery monument, and most recently, plastic tubes that powdered drink mix came in became led powered pillar candles. I'm sure there have been more.

I wish I could come up with good use for 2 liter soda bottles.

I used old garbage as garbage with the trash can itself for a trash can trama style prop (pops up, spits, drops down).

Just hot glued the garbage (empty cans, newspapers, general 'stuff') to black landscaping fabrice, slightly torn. Put the pop up in the middle & lid on. Worked well...

I've also been know to grab styrofoam on the roadside that has come off construction trucks & used them for tombstones, walls, etc. Even used a piece of truck tire as bumper / friction stops. Wife thinks I am crazy.
