I can't believe it! NOBODY decorates around my block (except the occasional "autumn flag," and even that's usually way closer to real autumn) until much closer to Halloween than this, and many don't put out decorations until Halloween night itself.
Well...today I was driving home and I saw A MERRY, GREEN WITCH IN MY NEIGHBOR'S GARDEN.
Not a Wiccan! So I mean no offense!I'm just using the term "witch" because it's the most recognized. It's a smiling, but undeniably green, black-clothed scarecrow-ish lady in a black hat.
She has glitter on her face but SO WHAT? I can't believe someone else on my block wants to decorate in September. It's a miracle!
A little ways farther down the street I saw that a second neighbor had put out her autumn flag, earlier than usual.
Is everyone getting inspired??? OMG! I was going to put off decorating outside until at least the first day of autumn, if not perhaps some time in October, but this inspired me so much that I put out an autumn harvest setup by my front door. A great big one.
It felt SO much like Halloween to drive by and see an actual Halloween decoration out!!! I hope this becomes a trend around my neighborhood!
(skipping with happiness) Yipee!

That's fantastic! I actually saw that one of my neighbors put up some of those gel cling things in her window. Got me excited too! I don't like those gel clings myself since they stained a window of mine before - but hey, they're in the spirit so who am I to judge.
Is it Halloween yet?

You know as much as we all like to set up our own haunts I think we also love to drive past other decorated houses too. It's such a nice feeling. I only have a handful of neighbors in the past who decorate to one degree or another and I would love to see more do so. I hope you find a lot of surprises this year as you drive through your neighborhood!

I hear you. I already have my stuff up outside and just the other day I happen to look into my next door neighbor's yard and she has Fall Harvest theme out! I didnt care but I was thrilled!! Now... If I can get my hubby to mow the grass so i can do my graveyard that would just be the Bee's knees! HAHA

We've had drought all summer so everything is dead and brown. I recently put a beige metal roof on my house that is matching the yard right about now...blech!
A splash of orange looks really great so I'm hoping more people will see that and decorate this year.

I'm not sure about the rest of the country buut here in New England there seems to be an early "enthusiasm" you don't see often this early. people haven't put out a lot of stuff yet from what i've observed driving around but there seems to be a lot of people with at least a few things out VERY early. The Stores here seem to have a big headstart as well.... maybe it's a sign that this is going to be a BIG Halloween year!!!! Yeah!!! C.
PS: It's SAD this enthusiasm doesn't extend to my own neighborhood. There's me and one guy down the street. I try to shame the rest of the people on my street but their just no fun!

I have to start driving by the only other serious haunters in the area to see if they're beating me to the pre-season display yet.
I was ticked off last year when the new guy had his garage windows boarded up and witch flying over his roof before I got scarecrow one out.
Just kidding. I was happy to not be the first freak flying his October flag.
