I guess they could be online too. And what are the stores you really don't care for, for Halloween stuff. My would be:
My top 3 would be:
1. Walgreens (It's mostly because of the animatronics.)
2. Menard's (They are just loaded with Halloween stuff yearly. I skip Menards most of the year, but once Halloween and Christmas come, I just keep on visiting them, and buying stuff. It's just amazing.)
3. Target - They have the possibility of having something good every year. They even have the different candy corn, or at least they did (green apple / marshmallow / other flavors)
The ones I really don't care for are:
1. Michael's (I just go for the fog fluid for my fog machine, but I just don't care for the Halloween stuff like I used to.)
2. Kmart - I don't know when the last time I bought Halloween from Kmart was. They are more overpriced, and they have recycled stuff that Walgreen's already had.
3. Wal-Mart - This is just because last year, they had barely anything except costumes, and the one year I bought a Face Ripper, but other than that, nothing was really good to me.

What are your top / bottom Halloween stores? –

"Dollar Tree - The High Price to Pay for $1 Prices" China stuff, taking out other stores, around every corner - 136 in 100 miles, poor wages for employees. - I only say this because people say the same stuff about Wal-Mart, but than they go to Dollar Tree.

I love Menards! I miss it so much, we don't have them here, but we do "back home" where I'm from.
My favorite used to be Target, but it seems like they've gone more to interior decorating items, which aren't useful to me.
I'd have to say:
1) Walgreens
2) 99 Cents Only
3) Kmart (sometimes it's Target...depends on selection of outdoor items)
(how did I forget to put Goodwill in that list? depending on the year's selection, it could be #1)
for the "bottoms", I'd name just about any big name Halloween themed store, because they all seem to have the same things, and it's usually stuff I don't need, too. I don't do movie characters, and those seem to be the only true quality items in those stores.
I can't wait to move back to an area that has Menards. There's a Garden Ridge within decent driving distance of that area too, I'll be sure to hit that next year, never been to one before. Unfortunately I will have to give up the 99 Cents Only store in trade.

K-Mart is awesome! I was actually in there last night and they have some great stuff! Last year I got a mini animated Freddy and Jason there. They have 'em again this year, but now they also have Michael Myers(which I bought) and Chucky. They have a great selection of animated items, props, and light sets at a very reasonable price.
The Best:
1. K-Mart (no need to say more)
2. Walgreen's (great selection, particularly liked the 6 ft. hanging Freddy and Jason)
3. Target (biggest selection, but a little behind this year, also have some great tombstones)
4. Michael's (pricey, but a pretty decent selection, some great fall/harvest stuff)
The Worst:
1. CVS (ironically the sameplace I work, poor selection, and the stuff we do have is mostly outdated)
2. Wal-Mart (used very good, if not great, dunno what happened, they sell mostly just candy and costumes now)

Tops: (In no pasticular order...)
THE CHRISTMAS TREE SHOPPE. Cheap, weird variety for all tastes, never know what you'll find. Differemt selection every year.
THE HALLOWEEN OUTLET: This one makes both lists. All the stuff you expect to find. Open year round. Large selection. Lots of high end anamatronics on display (idea material).
TARGET: With few exception a neat selection every year. Not pricy but not cheap. Their online store always has a couple BONUS items you can't get in the store and are semi-hardpressed to find elsewhere (a few extra bargains there_).
BIG LOTS: Not the biggest section by far but found myself buying quite a few items that were to my taste there so it makes the list. Going back today. On the downside and upside: their
selection changes with the season. Some items already running out that they may not get more of... an IF YOU SEE IT BUY IT NOW store!
Not so good to outright sucks:
WALMART: This store has a big section one year and a tiny one the next. NO rhyme or reason to the madness! Lots of semi-cheap pedestrian crap you can find almost anywhere. Help that is useless. Theor online store is OK to decent. Everything made in China and treat their employees like slave labor. THey face lawsuits and class actions all the time for a reason.
BJ's: Other than cool inflatable displays every year they are the warehouse version of Walmart. Occasional get good candy deals there nut otherwise selextion is expense. 10 places online are better priced on inflatables.
CVS: Overpriced cheesy stuff. A few bargains for cheap prop and tabletop stuff after Halloween when they go 75 percent off. Selection fairly pedestrian overall.\
HALLOWEEN OUTLET: If you like spending way too much then THIS IS THE PLACE to go! Their selection, though large doesn't really change a lot. Lots of high end animatronics that no one who isn't a professional haunter could afford. I keep thinking it would be funny if they sold kits or more stuff for making your own high end displays to compete with their own products!!! Half the time I go in there (mostly to look for ideas) I notice that stuff like motors to animate your own stuff is OUT of STOCK (coincidence?)
Well thats my list.... Cait

Best -
1) Shoppers Drug Mart - Excellent Decorations and Props, and Good Prices on most!
2) Canadian Tire - Great Stuff, Good Prices,
3) Winners/Home Sense - Great for Halloween Decor, and Food items, and the prices are good
Worst -
1) Michaels - Good Decorations and Props, but the Prices,
2) Sears - Used to have decent stuff, now its just costumes.
3) Walmart - Downsized their stuff majorly, used to be my favorite!

Have to add "SPIRIT" to my great places list. Went there for the first time yesterday!!! WOw! Did it ever get me in that Halloween mood. All charged up. Can't wait to get paid and go back (coupon in hand) next weekend! So happy they opened a temporary store near me this year!!! Cait
