So many words of wisdom when it comes to demonizing a holiday. The people who write this stuff should take a few days off and relax. This is a good example of a religious radicals view on Halloween. I am so glad that I didn't grow up in a family with this perspective.

Umm, the Druids didn't worship Pomona, she is a Roman Goddess. Huge wtf on the whole thing. Oh and hot cross buns are and English invention and have nothing to do with the Egyptian religion.
Life is too short to not do what makes us happy, keeps us sane, or both.

He makes a number of big mistakes, aside from the ones referenced here concerning Pomona.
He repeats the child sacrifice/animal mutilation/razors and pins in candy myths.
He holds to the idea that a person can overtly worship or adore a deity unintentionally (fun thing here is to remind them that Thursday honors Thor, the Norse storm god, and Wednesday honors Odin/Woden, Saturday honors Saturn the roman god of time and fate, Tuesday was Tyrs day, the Norse god of Law, Friday was the day of Frigga, sunday the Sun, Monday the Moon, etc.)
He misses the ENTIRE point that Halloween is a mockery of fear and death, a defiance of it, not a festival respecting it. We mock evil on Halloween, and grin back at the Reaper while laughing, giving treats and giggling at the things we normally fear.
And he commits the greatest sin - he lies.
He repeats the long-debunked "Samhain, the Celtic Lord of the Dead" nonsense.
Folks, do me and your fellow countrymen a favor.
Every time someone mentions the ridiculous "Samhain/Lord of Death" thing, send them here...

I personally celebrate Samhain as well as Halloween. I think it would make more sense for people who celebrate Samnain to be offended by halloween than this guy, but btb I love every aspect of the holiday personally. I have a few wiccan friends who get offended by the "witch" persona but they are very tolerant and even embrace it with their children. they just wish the steryotypical witch would go by a different name.
On another note, this guys article is offended by Druids and the like worshiping or glorifying satan on this day, then with the same breath acknowledges they hold a different cosmology. (be it he is wrong as to what it is, but he acknowledges it is separate and apart from general God VS Satan cosmology) With their beliefs not in the slightest resembling a god or a satan, could satanists not make the same argument that halloween glorifies God? at least they acknowledge each others beliefs on reality and existence. You will drip rubies...My Friends, My Faithful Friends -Sweeney Todd
