After being kicked out of HALLOWEEN SUPERSTORE (for taking pictures) ... I headed over to the SPIRIT store. Not wanting another reprisal of what just happened, I talked to the manager at SPIRIT and she actually ENCOURAGED me to take photos ... and I did:

Looks like they didn't have a lot of the big props set up yet?
I'm still waiting for ours to open.

Special thanks for all of the photos that you took at the HW Superstore and at Spirit.
I'm so sorry that they didn't let you take anymore pictures at the HW Superstore. Are they Halloween City ??
Our local Spirit store just has a ton of unopened boxes to be opened in the store, so we have to drive 75 miles to find a Spirit store opened.

Looks like a lot of stuff to still get out! I visited my Spirit today, and the store was a little boring. Still cool, though. Expensive as always - I didn't buy anything. The life-sized props in the back weren't there yet, and the footpads are still coming in. I expect even more cool stuff to be coming. Also, they were playing some ridiculous music...not Halloween music...

i dont know why their so against taking pictures dont they know it is also free publicity for those stores as people like you share them here and we then want to go visit their stores and buy something ...i know they dont want other compagnies to spy on them for their products but come on kicking someone out for this ?stupid ....
spirit are great when it come to taking pictures i asked last year and this year for permission and they gladly say yes even for videos ....

Now let me look at these pics...!After being kicked out of HALLOWEEN SUPERSTORE (for taking pictures) ... I headed over to the SPIRIT store. Not wanting another reprisal of what just happened, I talked to the manager at SPIRIT and she actually ENCOURAGED me to take photos ... and I did:

Retail stores are extremely paranoid about people taking pictures. I've heard different reasons from different managers, ranging from fear of competitors stealing information to security concerns. Which is beyond silly, but whatever, good to see that some stores aren't so whacked out.

Gotta say, the graveyard archway and fence is cool. Not hundreds of dollars cool, but cool just the same. Not impressed with the trees though. Is it me, or is candles all the rage this year? Tons of candles. Eveybody has the candles! The table of heads cracks me up too. What does it say about us when we can just look casually at a table with a massive amount of dead heads on it?! And since I don't costume shop at these places, I always wish they did away with the costume section. It takes up too much room, which could be used for more props and decor! But of course, costumes are the bread and butter.
Can't wait for ours to open too.
Dan
