Well, my Halloween prop making can officially begin now that I've had my first pumpkin ale of the season. I had a Shipyard Pumpkinhead (my favorite). I also picked up the Sam Adams Harvest collection which has pumpkin ale along with the Octoberfest beer and some others so I'm well stocked. Please, fellow haunters and forum members, join me and raise your glass of pumpkin ale in a toast to the 2010 Halloween season!
    Cheers!!

Is it beer-like in any way? I've been wanting to try it, but I can't stand the taste or smell of beer, and I'm too cheap to buy a 6 pack that might get pitched after just one sip.

Yes, in every way! Believe me, if you don't like beer, you won't like this.
BUT, if you're a wine drinker, there are some really nice Halloween themed wines you might like. The two I enjoyed last year were Trick (red) and Treat (white). The bottles are fun too!

Don't forget to try them at room temp too... most of these speciality beers taste BETTER when they aren't ice cold...

I'm waiting for my Post Road Pumpkin Ale (one of the ones that taste BETTER cool NOT cold):
    http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/45/74/

and getting some Dixie Blackened Voodoo...

Dixie Blackened Voodoo pours to a very dark brown color with a medium creamy tan-head and a subtle roasty nose. The palate is soft with good malt body and high drinkability, a tad creamy with a hint of chocolate and a mild roasted character that is not overly bitter. The beer is very clean and lacking esters, as is proper for the style. The finish is balanced with a slight roasty-bitterness emerging at the end.

I just enjoyed some Harvest Moon, Blue Moon's pumpkin ale. It's very tasty! I've been craving pumpkin everything lately. My husband and I will probably brew a batch of our own pumkin ale within the next couple of weeks. I'm very excited! Homemade beer is always the best.

I have Pumpkin Ale from Byffalo Bill's Brewery.... I'm not big on beer, but this stuff is pretty good.

Aa for wines, World Market carried the "Vampire" label last year. And yes, they are from Transylvania. I haven't seen them out this year yet...
