I am wondering if anyone knows of either any really scary places to go to on halloween for adults or real haunted locations to visit on halloween or around halloween time. I am located in Connecticut. I am willing to go anywhere in the New England area.
I have been to haunted houses, haunted hay rides, mazes....etc that were supposed to be extremely good and scary, but they seem dull and a little childish. I understand Halloween is supposed to be fun and more aimed for the family, but I'm looking for something or somewhere truely scary.
Ideally I'm looking for a place where you can camp out or spend the a night at a real haunted location, but cant seem to find anything other than camping out for the family with hay rides, which is great for kids but not for the 18-30 age group. I'm not sure if this would be the site to look for such places, could anyone give me a hand.
Thank you,

The Lizzie Borden house was featured on Ghost Hunters TV. It is supposed to be haunted and is a B&B.

Eastern State penitentiary is a haunted prison also featured on TV and does a massive haunted house around this time.

Salem MA is another thought.

You NEED to go to the Wayside Inn in Sudbery Mass .http://www.wayside.org/ But ONLY for room 9. This is the haunted room. Do a little research on it but there is a good back story hear. My girlfriend and I stayed there last year and it was pretty awesome. Id tell ya the whole thing but takes some time to do a bit of research it'll be more rewarding. Check out stuff on Jerusia and the secret drawer society.

I went to Salem a couple years ago. It was for kids, its an interesting place but more of a family oriented event.
The first 2 look promising. I'll have to plain something out to go to both location. Thank you,

Easter State Penitentiary is FANTASTIC. Hands down the single best Haunted House I have ever been too. In addition to it being 'supposedly' haunted the actual Haunted Prison they do every year is AWESOME.
I try to go to it once every couple years, I might check it out again this year. Its in or near Philadelphia which is about 2 hours from me so probably about 3 to 3.5 hours from you.
Its pricey and a bit of a haul, but it is well worth it.

Waverly Hills Sanatorium - a real haunted hospital. This would be more of a vacation spot, since it's in Kentucky, but it's supposed to be amazing.

Yeah, it seems to be about 3.-4 hours from me, But if thats what it takes to get a good scare looks like I'll have to make a trip out. Now I just need to find the people willing to go lol. It does look like an awesome place to go though.
ResinOmega, that place does look a little strange. I think i'll check that Inn about November time frame. Thank you
The sanitorum would be interesting as well. Looks like I might have to take some time off work and do a little running around. Do yo have any info on the Sanitorum?
If there are anymore "haunted places" anyone knows about, please feel free to post.
Thank you all.

The former West Virginia State Penitentiary in Moundsville, WV has haunted tours & ghost hunts from March to November though this year's Ghost Hunts are sold out.
They also have a Dungeon of Horrors for October for Halloween, though I think the price for that is separate from the tours.
Even if you can't get there for Halloween, it's worth the trip. We have a friend that lives one block over from it & though I've never been inside the place (we keep meaning to get there & just don't) it's pretty scary looking just from the outside.
They used to have all sorts of jailbreaks & she said that those homes were the safest because no one was gonna stick around after they just broke outta jail, they kept running right on past those houses across the street!
And I do mean across the street. It's your average 2 lane roadway & housing is directly across the street from the prison. Our friend can look out her back door right at the prison.
And after your WV Pen tour, you can go across the street to visit the Native American burial mound that gave Moundsville it's name.
And for something closer to me, Fells Point Ghost Tours in Baltimore. DC has one too.Roger Clyne & the Peacemakers, the best damn little band you should be listening to!
