I was thinking about doing something special for my TOTs this year and was looking for some ideas. Passing out candy is just fine, but I thought I could incorporate the theme of my haunt into a small game or special item.

We do a different theme each year and 2010 is IT. Clowns and spiders are always a hit. I was thinking about making one of those carnival spinning wheels to give TOT prizes. Or maybe making a sign at the beginning of my yard haunt with the answer somewhere inside for a special prize. I was also considering balloons, either helium or on a stick.

I know other posters have given balloons and I don't know how they were received.

    Please share your ideas! TIA

With some paper lunch sacks and popcicle sticks you can make a witches broom that will hold a nice little amount of candy in a bag. They look really cute. I tie a ribbon around the top to hold the stick in place and glue a bug of somekind on the outside. I always add pencils and small notebooks for the school age kids that are related to us but the rest only get candy.

In the spirit of treat bags I bet you could make some up to look like pennywise. Balloons would be good for the IT theme too... Or little paper boats- that's the one part of the movie I remember. "You'll float too!"
