Hey guys! As some of you may know, I am a home owner again (yay!). Even better, I moved to a small city. Being my first haunt here I am not too sure how to set up the scare factor here. I was just wondering how some of you did your set up when it came to your first year in a new area.

I was in this situation 5 yrs ago. New house, new kids, didnt know all the neighbors.
I went small scale the 1st year. The neighbors and kids loved it. I slowly built it up and now I have everyone asking whats new for next year.
It's also very cool seeing the kids that wouldn't come near the door, now old enough to come through my bigger, scarier, haunted garage.

I started small and it worked out great, hope this helps

Just get out there and haunt. I start with a few decorations and constantly build it up over about a month. People see the constant activity and the word spreads. The first year might be a little sparse but once you get the reputation, it usually keeps getting better.

I have to agree with the slowly building it up... you don't have to go all out the first year, but you should do enough to make it clear to the entire neighborhood that YOUR HOUSE is THE house to see on Halloween...
How many days do I have left?

Do as much as you can...make a splash, have fun!
When storage is a concearn, put your monster props under the kids beds.

I did go from scatch the first year and i wasnt even owning the house but ( had the ok to do whatever i wanted as long as it stays outside ) still rent it only .I did it for the kids but mostly for myself i had fun trying new things . Just show them what you can do and let them enjoy your haunt !
The best advice is HAVE FUN NO MATTER WHAT !

Ditto. 4 years ago. I didn't put anything out REALLY scary as there were a lot more LITTLE KIDS in the new neighborhood.

But still, you gotta "establish yourself".
