like celebration? Because I am beginning to see an evolution of the holiday...where it almost seems like it's becoming less and less about the kids and more about giving the adult an excuse too be a little silly.
The reason this kind of concern me is if this becomes an all out adult occasion...then where can we build special memories, and that nastalgic feeling if the experience is being taken away from the children.
I might be sligthly exaggerating...but I celebrate halloween to experience the joy I had in my childhood... not to change it...but relive it in my mind... and try to get back that magic that was lost long ago.
The only downfall of Halloween is it only happens once a year.

Yeah, this would be an unpopular idea.

Trick or treating will always be for kids, and there will always be some form of trick or treating. Having the adults involved only means that it is getting more mainstream, which is good for haunters.
Its so nice to be insane, no one asks you to explain...

I am an adult with kid like qualities....lol. I just get a little fizzled when the parties become more and more adult orientated....clubs start doing halloween theme nights with women barely dressed. You have costumes that are a little on the unfriendly side of things like the priest with the kid in the front.... or better yet the farmer with the sheep it's all funny at first and you get it... and HONESTLY there is NOTHING wrong with having a sense of humor. But, I still would like to promote the innocent quality of the holiday.
Maybe it's just me...and maybe I am WAAAAAAYYYYYYY to attached to the memories and just have too learn to adapt and let go.

There are probably more adults going to Halloween parties....which means less adults are at home haunting and handing out candy

Sad to say, we get a lot of groups coming through our Haunt, later in the evening, that are comprised completely of adults. They hear about it, and just can't resist showing up. They have a great time, BTW, everyone enjoys a good scare, no matter what age.

But, at the heart of the matter, we do it for the kids.

Unfortunately only the few neighbor kids out my way. I make sure they get their full dose of the holiday, but after bed time it's always then for the adults to lounge around and drink some suds.
What doesn't kill you can still make you walk funny.

I agree it is becoming more of an adult oriented party holiday than one where kids get to dress up and have fun. Like anything it's got its pros and its cons.

Less people passing candy and such, more people having adult only parties. Others ruining it by saying tot has to be at 3 pm and candy passers have to stand on the curb so kids dont get close to the house sort of thing, (for real)poisoned candy- ruins chances for true halloween fun and scares.
I too am not a fan of the barely there costumes as Halloween is a holiday of spooks and frights, but to each their own as long as they are not debuting the outfit on tot night with 100 kids coming to the door...
But who is to say the younger generations aren't making their own Halloween memories? With all the wonderful people on this forum keeping the real spirit alive, and the throngs of haunted attractions that pop up every fall I don't see why kids and adults alike can't enjoy Halloween...

I was just wondering who these "Others" are in your town who make these rules concerning TOT? Did they make like a law or something? What if you dont stand at the curb... do they arrest you? That would totally suck!
