    I have never had any issues from my local Fire Dept, but then I "take care of them" every year ...I have my yard chained off so nobody trips over anything....

    Having some background with OSHA your biggest concern is tripping hazards and permenant loads on extension cords. Of course the guage of the cord has to be big enough for the load, but temporary use of them is acceptable. Or at least used to be they change the regs all the time.
    What doesn't kill you can still make you walk funny.
