Scarebear brought up a cool thread about must reads for Halloween.
One of the traditions with my son since he was 5 (15 now and growing to fast) was watching Halloween on TV (Peanuts and others) and now I am introducing him to classic Halloween/Horror movies.
What are your movies you have to watch each year when the season comes?
Mine:
Sleepy Hallow by Tim Burton
Abbot and Costello meets Frankenstein
1930's Frankenstein and Dracula
Vincent Price : House of Wax; House on Haunted Hill; The Pit and the Pendulum; Tales of Terror; The Comedy of Terrors; The Raven; The Last Man on Earth
Rocky Horror (I would like, if I may, to take you on a strange journey)
I am thinking this year I will introduce him to:
Poltergeist
The Exorcist

The book The Legend of Sleepy Hollow is absolutely amazing. well its a short story, the original one by Washington Irving that all the films are based on, published in 1820. its wonderful. since it was written in 1820 it does use some words I didnt know because language is different today. you can get it from the library. its just awesome, read it.

I haven't really had a Halloween movie tradition that I can think of. Since I set up Halloween day, I'm usually too busy that day between getting ready and handing out candy and taking everything down after to really relax much.
As a little kid I do remember watching the Charlie Brown specials, still do sometimes in fact. As I got older I loved the old Saturday Night Live cast with Jim Belushi, Dan Aykroyd, Chevy Chase and Gilda Radner....Knock, knock, knock....Who's there? Unicef, Happy Halloween! (door opening) (you know the rest) ......If I wasn't out ToT, there was usually a party to go to.
I picked up Trick r Treat on DVD earlier in the year when our Hollywood Video was closing up and selling their inventory. Haven't seen it yet but maybe it will be the start. I'm not expecting much in the way of TOTs this year due to the weekend so maybe I'll be able to sit down and watch it Halloween night.
Over the last ten years or so I have been putting a DVD collection of favorite halloween tv shows (did the same thing for xmas shows). Once our family room gets finished and our landscaping done I should have some time to enjoy our house finally and relax with some of the stuff I've compiled. Watching shows from my collection could turn into a tradition I suppose.

For me, "It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown" is sacred! That's the one halloween movie/tv show that I will only watch in the month of October.
Other than that, some favorites are Hocus Pocus, When Good Ghouls Go bad, The Ghost and Mr Chicken, Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein (and the mummy, and the invisible man, and Jekyl and Hyde, etc.!) Sleepy Hollow, 13 Ghosts (the original), John Carpenter's Halloween and The Fog, Psycho, The Birds, Dracula (Bela's version), Frankenstein and Bride of, and I could go on and on!
Most are not truly halloween-related, but provide the right atmosphere. I watch a lot of them for inspiration while I'm working on halloween projects.Dear Sweet Leota, Beloved By All. In Regions Beyond Now But Having a Ball...

Other than whatever crappy films are playing on SyFy/Chiller/AMC the entire month? I have to watch Rocky Horror and Ginger Snaps. While neither is technically a Halloween film, they evoke the holiday for me in costume (Rocky Horror) and gorgeous autumnal landscapes (Ginger Snaps).
