Maybe this would be better off in props.. but I will start here. Someone much wiser than me will move it if needed.

In my backyard haunt we usually decorated my 10 X 15 raised porch as kind of a witches altar. Had the pot, table with spell book, candles etc... ToTers would come up to get their candy from the witch (now my Ex, hmmm never put that together till now ) However, last year really pointed it out to me with all the rain. ToTers kept slipping on the stairs. I made a point to have the stairs well lit but I kept thinking about one of them tripping, slipping, falling, law suit, someone getting hurt etc...which can happen even without the rain. Now I am trying to think of something to do with it.

I was originally wanting to do a Tower of London theme and I am still trying to keep with that. I was originally planning on having an off with your head type prop up there. Still thinking of doing it but I dont know. I kinda want the headsman to be dressed like, well a headsman. I have been hitting up yardsales looking for clothes that I can use but have had no luck.

My budget is really tight (hmmm I can wait till next month to pay the water bill because I saw this prop I really like) so I cant do a whole lot.

I will maybe have two helpers this year so having live actors is probably a no go.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.
We dont need a body bag, we need a bucket.............and a strainer.

There are plenty of slip proof stuff to put on stairs. Rubber mats for one. we have something that has the consistency of rough sand paper on our ramp that works wonderful even after the rain.

I agree with Si! I would use non slip grained type paint. I would get the most coarse type to ensure no slipping at all. make sure the side rails are study and do not move. retrofit if need be. That should save you from most issues... Can't help ya if they had drank a pint of Jack or Wild turkey before showing up at your haunt...
A Halloween prop is a terrible thing to waste..

Our steps were the same way, was always worried about the Grandbabies slipping. So hubby went and got some stuff from Menards that he just painted on... Its rough like heavy duty sand paper...... Work's great !!
