Just curious if other people have particular memories or a current haunt helper.
I saw in the "show us your stones" thread that JohnnyA has a 17 yr old daughter working with him, and it tugged my heart strings. So, I apologize for the nostalgic spew below.
When I was a TOT kid, my dad and I used to make the living room look like a haunted house for other TOT's to view. He piped creepy music out of the attic (we had thin insulation I guess). We made headstones and a coffin out of cardboard, and he would dress up as Frankenstein to give out candy. So here I am, in my 30s, working on my yard haunt, missing my dad. He's back home in Indiana, emailing me links to FCG motors lol. He and Mom plan to fly out for Halloween week, just to help and be part of the haunt. Wish he could be here for 8 weekends to help build !

There's no earthly way of knowing Which direction we are going. There's no knowing where we're rowing
Or which way the river's flowing. Is it raining? Is it snowing? Is a hurricane a blowing?

My wife is my partner in slime. I have been the more driven of the two but this year she has been asking if we can bust out the totes since early June.

nobody...I'm all alone... :-(

My wife and son get into the decorating and setting up with me.

my former girlfriend's daughter was my partner for the last few years...I miss having her around and her enthusiasm. Hopefully she'll come over and help out with the haunt this year.

My ex wanted to start doing a haunt when we bought the house. We did one in the garage and then the next year it was her idea to do the backyard. She wants to come help this year but every time I mention any plans or ideas to her she blows it off.
My ex's granddaughter is the main reason I am still doing it. She loves it and after she goes ToTing she goes and escorts people through the haunt showing everyone what her Papa did. She will even take the scardycats by hand and lead them through. She is 4 this year. It was the cutest when she was 2 and was leading them through my garage haunt.
Anyway, except Tori and some moral support from a few friends I am on my own.

A few years ago my Mother and I were looking at some Halloween costume contest pictures that had been in the local paper.
There was a group photo, winners in various catagories, I was obvious in my 9 ft. tall skeleton costume, then my Mother pointed out my Grandmother, my cousin, my Mother and maybe another cousin all prize winners!
We were all in costume! I never knew this before!
The local town's prize money was $3.oo for first place.
My family really cleaned up that year!
My Wife Jessica helps run our haunted house, really helping alot in the fall. (we are open every night of the year) She does all the things that keep me freed up to do my front room routine and not have to concern myself about much else, how does one put a price or a value on this?
Many haunted house owners never see Halloween, they are too busy making phone calls trying to get enough hired helpless to show up to make the place work!
This year in Illinois all helpers have to first have criminal backround checks, so this little fact doesn't make it any quicker or easier now does it?"My Insanity is well-respected, until they wiggle free and become a stringer for a tabloid"

I've got the whole brood in on my capers. It took years to do it, but now my wife, both sons (10 & 6 on Halloween this year) and even my Mother-in-law... now THAT'S scary!
