Hello again everyone. I'd like to post some pictures of my home and some ideas I have. I would also looove to pick your brains for any ideas you have as well
First, my theme: A hillbilly halloween theme revolving around a hermit who doesn't want any trespassers. For music I plan on using as much slow bluegrass as I can coupled with some tracks from Trueblood and perhaps throwing in some ambient noises. I don't have much to work with besides a boombox but that's probably going to have to do until I get the funds
About my home : I live on a corner lot in a fine neighborhood located in Unicoi, TN with no street light hitting my yard...YAY
This first 2 pictures are of my front yard from a corner view. Forgive that darn piece of paper that flew into my shot, the garbage crew was doing their rounds as I was taking pics. Eventually I'd like to haunt out those trees when the leaves die but my focus this year will be on the porch.
This is my focus this year. I want to haunt out my porch the best I can. I'd like to have the music on the porch and I'll have seats out so sit out giving candy. I plan on spiderwebbing and cheeseclothing the porch. I'd like to hang something ghoulish from those shepard's hooks when it gets to cold for the birds to hang around. In the second picture you'll see my steps and I'd really like to place my ground fogger under there and have the fog coming out. For light's I will probably go with green floods. What do you think? By the way, the porch will be painted by then LOL
This is the view they get walking to my porch. I'd eventually like to get a spitter going in that bird fountain and I plan on throwing a bush shaker in some of those bushes
The garage: It will be a while off but I'd love to have a centerpiece right where the garbage can is there. Something like a skeletal hillbilly drinking moonshine, a take on the great endless drinkers I've seen or just a Hillbilly skeleton with a sign of some kind sitting on a barrel.
The back porch: I needed a close up here as well but It's a high back porch and I don't plan on anyone going up that thing but I'm thinking I could do some spooky stuff coming out from under there
And lastly, my backyard: Everything you see up to that fence is mine and its a half acre or so. It inclines a bit and I have no clue what I would be doing there yet. I'm not sure a graveyard would fit the Hillbilly theme but perhaps it may:
I'd really appreciate any ideas you all have. This will be my very first year haunting my home and I won't have much to work with but I'm excited. And if anyone is wondering you can thank my landscaper for the yard pattern. After my neck and back injury, he takes care of it for me and does a fabulous job.

Wow! that is a "big ass piece 'o' property" you have there. So much potential. I can see one HELL of a Cemetery/Graveyard happening there!!!! With the slope of that property, a cemetery has a great chance of all of the props and tombstones being perfectly visible. At least that is what i would do anyway. I wouldn't utilize all of the property but i would build a picket fence (old, weathered and beaten) and cordon off an area to be used and then decorate within. Once done, all of your "Guests" will have a 360 degree view of your wares. Go nuts!!!!

If your going redneck, then you need an outhouse

Very nice house and surroundings. Maybe planting a few trees out back in your near future?
Wish my lot was smaller. My front is the size of your back and swallows what I put out but I digress...
You can do so much with just some creative lighting. Firstly I see lights eminating under the stairs and behind bushes. Some of those can accent the few things you might hang outside for this year. From there just keep building and adding. What doesn't kill you can still make you walk funny.

Can you find a bunch of junked cars to scatter around the yard?
A toothless boy to play banjo?

I'm Canadian so I am not sure if Redneck and Hillbilly are the same thing. I picture a pack of redneck Pet/wild dogs or werewolves under the porch. I like the idea of the green lights and fog machine and the outhouse previously mentioned.
Could you spin the Beverly Hill Billies theme song into a Halloween song? How about their car filled with bluckies in over-alls waving bandana's? A little oil-slick with arms coming out? When storage is a concearn, put your monster props under the kids beds.
