Thread: When do you set up for Halloween?

When do you all start displaying Halloween Stuff in your yard? Do you do a little at a time...or all at once? Just curious...

I am trying to figure out the best time to start displaying stuff...

I would love to do it through out the month of October but I start early morning of Oct. 31st then take it down the same night. One year I was going to leave it up and some kids started pulling my skulls off the sticks and throwing them at each other so we do it on a one day shot. But I was thinking maybe I can put some of it up before the 31st then put the bigger things up on the day of. Cause usually we don't get teens running around at night here. Its a quiet neighborhood maybe they were just out due to the "Holiday" yep its a Holiday to me and if I had it my way no work or school the day of or the day after

October 1st for me too. I can hardly wait that long, but I do. I have my tombstones with the pvc pipe in them and take them into the garage everynight just in case, but leave the rest up. Then Halloween night I take it all in once the Tot's die down.

um....... Aug 31....... hahahahahha geesh I am soo lame!

Some of the outdoor stuff goes up the first week of October; cemetery fence and columns, a few cheap tombstones, witch prop. I'll add a little here and there during the rest of the month, but the majority of it goes out Halloween Day and is taken down that night. The indoor stuff goes out towards the end of September.

I put out enough to make my house very halloweeny on Oct 1st, the graveyard, boarded-up windows and a few other props. I add as the month goes along with all out on the the final night... Halloween!

I think by putting out on Oct 1st it adds to everyone's enjoyment of the season...most of all mine. I don't work all year just to display on one night...it's October for Gods sakes lets feel the love all month long.

I start with some items on the first, for the rest I put them out a couple days before the 31st. The real expensive stuff tends be be a hourly deal.

I used to do it mid October, mostly indoors stuff because I haven't had a yard. Last year I didn't decorate at all as I was focused on my first trunk or treat and the party later that night. I wore part of my party costume under my trunk or treat costume. Wearing coveralls under a full length robe is very warm, even on Halloween.
