Please allow me to vent. Last year one of the organizations my daughter worked with at her college asked for me to help with a Haunted House. I was so excited. Unfortunately, not enough people volunteered so it was cancelled. This year the Student Council at the college I work at came to me (knowing I was a halloween nut and wanting to have my own haunt someday) and wanted to do a Haunted House as a fund raiser. Great! Got approval from the Director, great! Got LOTS of volunteers, great! Worked quite a while on the floorplan, theme, scripts for the greeters, etc. BAMM! Director decided that there was too much liability and put the kabosh on the whole thing! This sucks!!! I thought I was finally going to be able to do the real thing! I'm trying to console myself with the thought that I will now have plenty of time to add to my yard haunt instead. And the nice thing is, nobody to answer to but me!![]()

Find out on your own what a liability policy would cost. My son did it a few years back in a school club and the policy wasn't expensive at all. Of course you have to follow the rules.

That sucks!!! ( not in a vampire way ) I doubt that it was ever priced out. As they say in hollywood, never work with animals, kids or big kids.

Owning my own business, I have learned the hard way that working with other organizations and companies usually leads to frustration and disappointment. I feel for you, but I agree, don't give up, get better answers as to why, what liability issue is it that concerns them? What can you do to eliminate that and go from there. Hey, anyone can just give up.

To be honest, after announcing the cancellation to the students, they all got so p-sd off that I think I've lost any possiblity of getting them back to volunteer EVEN if I could convince the school to change their mind. I just going to go back to doing my own thing. Maybe some day I'll have the money to go big on my own.

Thats it exactly, do your own thing, then you don't have to answer to anybody, or be let down by anybody. It is always a hassel when you have to answer to other people.

If you still want to do one, go to local libraries, american legions, fire halls, etc. and ask if they'd want you to lead a haunted house as a fund raiser.
