For those of you like me who have a child/children, love to watch movies and shows with them, and your favorites are the ones with eerie themes (mainly Halloween) then you may have noticed, as I have, that the spooky shows for the family/kids are dissapearing.
Whether it be for the whole family or directed straight to kids. Shows like the ones we watched when we were kids are just not around anymore. From the classics like Scooby Doo, The Addams Family, and The Munsters to those great shows from the 90s like Are You Afraid of the Dark?, Goosebumps, And eerie Indianna.
Other than the new scooby doo show "Scooby Doo! Mystery Incorporated" today the only shows that resemble those are "The Troop" (3 monster hunting teens) and "wizards of waverly place" (a family of wizards) which is mostly about a teenage girl. But these don't have that Spooktastic feel that we all love ("wizards of waverly place" had a few episodes last year that made me think it was turning into something us spook fiends could enjoy, but it seems to be falling back to the teen girl thing).
Now im not saying shows need to be scary but those shows that aren't around anymore just had a great feel to them (a feel I refered to as "spooktastic"). And Im sure it has a lot to do with imagery. Like haunted houses and woods, inhuman characters, full moons, and so on. You know OUR BREAD AND BUTTER.
But why can't we have something like that now? People will watch it! There is a large number of people who want that kind of entertainment. And you know if a vampire or two are thrown in the twilight chicks will be all over it (haha).
I hope the future holds more spooks for the whole family but for now we'll have to hold on to the new scooby show, the month of october when "it's acceptable" to watch these shows, Disney's week long halloween in april (they play halloween movies and shows at some point of the day which is a great idea but it's usually pretty weak) and remember DVD's are our friends!
Here's a list of stuff I recomend you check out for you and yours

LOVE this list, halloweenfiend! Could you add "Courage the Cowardly Dog" to the cartoons? My 9 year-old and I love to watch this one together.

I think you put together a really great list! Our go-to movies are for sure are all the Halloweentowns, Haunted Mansion, Nightmare Before Christmas, and Hocus Pocus.

The Disney is usually pretty good about airing spooky movies during the month of October. Which reminds me of one movie not on your list - Twitches. Oh, and how about the Corpse Bride? I'll list more as they come to me.
    Is it Halloween yet?

It took me a minute to find it because I forgot the name but Scary Godmother.

While I was searching for it, I found that there are a couple Scary Godmother movies - Halloween Spooktakular and The Revenge of Jimmy.

They are short (maybe 30 minutes) but nonetheless great for Halloween!
