Do you realize that Halloween is on Sunday this year?
Last time that happened here, they observed Halloween on the Saturday night before. Alot of people also observed it Sunday and my kids went trick or treating BOTH nights! You should have seen all of the candy they racked in!!!!!

I wish this would happen this year, it has in the past...but our Mayor, in his stupidity, was convinced by the carny folk in the area that Friday 29, Saturday 30, and Sunday 31 will be the perfect days to open the annual County Fair (which is usually in September). Which means the County Fair will take all of the fun away for ToT events. And because Halloween does fall on a Sunday; ToT will get shifted to Saturday.
With Saturday being the day "Kids Get in Free" at the Fair...Halloween is probably going to suck both Sat and Sun.
Because most of the kids/parents that have been walking around the fairgrounds all day, stuffing their faces with funnel cake; aren't going to go Trick or Treating. They're going to go home and rest.
Dumb a$s Mayor.

Is Halloween the only day of the year that gets moved? Do your politicians ever move Indepenance day to July 3rd so people won't party too hard on a Sunday?
When storage is a concearn, put your monster props under the kids beds.

It's really disappointing. I've already written 2 letters to the Mayor addressing my concerns and was assured that TOT will still happen (It just won't be as good as it should be) Last year I was treated to a damn ToT curfew (which we previously never had) that started at 6:00 and ended at 8:00. And I thought that was bad; this is much worse! But what can I do? Complain? That never works.

Wow! That's pretty cool. I don't think they'll do that here (Omaha, NE). I would like to find out if they will move it or not...very interesting!
The only time I can recall them moving Trick-or-Treat was when I was 9 there was a huge ice storm so they moved it to a few days later. My mom dressed me up like a gypsy (an excuse to cover me in as many layers as possible) and I only made it to my immediate block that year. Cruddy year for ToT!
I am interested to see if other communities will do double duty, too."Can't even shout. Can't even cry. The gentlemen are coming by. Looking in windows. Knocking on doors. They need to take seven and they might take yours. Can't call to mom. Can't say a word. You're gonna die screaming but you won't be heard."

Halloween isn't considered a national holiday, and therefore is often rejected as a holiday.
