I wanted to share my ideas for my scavenger hunt this year. I had to think of something new for this years party. Most of the kids that are invited are now young teenagers. There are little ones too, but I want to focus on the teens. Usually every year I do a Haunted forest Walking trail, but after last years devasting deluge that come upon my plans, I've decieded not to do a haunted forest. But still wanted to use all 3 walking trails in our woods. So I thought I'll do a scavenger hunt this year, I stopped doing scavenger hunts cause the last time, my sisters and I came up with a rhymning one that the kids had to follow the clues to get to the end. Well I didn't work out so well. The kids ended up just wondering around until the found the hiding places and ended up finding the end one and skipping all the rest.
This year they will have a list given to them and they have to hunt along the trails to find the items , BUT they have to bring the items back to home base. Here is a sample that I have come up with so far:

'Find Draculas gravemarker and bring back his teeth'------I have a small graveyard somewhere along the trail, when they locate his tomstone, there will be a small bucket with some of those fake teeth. They will be given a bag to collect all the items they need to bring back to a designated location.

    Heres another one:
'Coffins are hidden somewhere along the trails, Dig in the dirt to find and bring back One Bone and One Black Spider' ------------I have two coffins both will be filled with loose dirt and they would have to dig through the dirt to bring me the items, one coffin will hold the bones, the other one the spiders. The coffins are on to different trails.

    And another one:

'Find the headless bride and bring back one of her flowers from her destroyed bouqet'------ Once they found my headless bride, her flower bouqet will be thrown about around the ground and they will have to find and bring me one of her flowers.

I'll have to enforce some rules before they start the hunt, I plan on having some things that they would have to dig through a bucket full of slime or something similiar to bring back an item, so they can't cheat by dumping out the bucket. So far I have a list of about 10 things that they have to find and bring back, there will be prizes for the first person or group. And I'll have a goodie bag for all others that bring back all listed itmes too.
Now if it rains AGAIN this year, then I probably won't be able to do it, cause it can get muddy on those trails.

I think it sounds like fun, what do you think?

That is a great idea. Just some thoughts, you could put rubber eyeballs in the ooze for them to dig out. Nail the bucket-o-ooze down so that they cannot dump it over. And maybe have a huge spider web somewhere on the trail that they have to retreive a spider from. I really like this idea. I do a party for my step son and his friends every year and I have altered all the standard games to Halloween themes, but they are a bit older so the old standbys don't work anymore.

I am going to have to steal your idea.

I have always wanted to do a scavenger hunt inside my haunt. Right now I have too many people going through to do that but I will maybe one day. I collect things now to add to the list someday. I want to put them in places where they will be afraid to get them.

We have built an old shack along one of the trails, and last year I turned it into a spider shack, cobwebs everywhere, so much you almost have to crawl through it. And I did have plans on them having to find a certain colored spider in all that webbing. LOL
Thats a compliment, you stealing my idea, Thanks!

Have you considered using clues or riddles instead of telling them specifically what they have to find?
We've done a couple of hunts with clues/riddles and they were a lot of fun
