My haunt set-up, managers, actors, and behind the scenes crew is almost 100% volunteer. Some of the people who work it are required to because they are employed by my department at the university and it's just one of the requirements. However the vast majority of my help is volunteer.

What are some things I can do to a.) make them take their jobs seriously and b.) let them know I appreciate them. I usually order pizza the last night of the haunt and of course I keep lots of water and snack food in the green room but a lot of times I get a lot of "last minute lucy's" as volunteers and I need to try and make people more excited about this.
