Ever see something in the store that makes you think "Wow. I 'm buying that!" and then when you get it home, you are very disappointed with it? If so, what was it? And why did it fail? What did you do after that?
Mine is the Flying Grim Reaper.
When I saw it in the store, I thought it would be cool to have because I can rope it between my two trees and have it fly by the TOTers. Sad to say, it didn't do it's job and because it is a Halloween decoration, it could not be returned.
So what is your story?

I did have to talk my mother out of buying one of those plastic light-up ghosts sporting a silly grin at a garage sale once...
Otherwise...mine would have to be one of those giant bats that Michael's carries. I had to fix it up a good bit, and it had a gigantic wingspan which was the only cool thing going for it, but the quality was pretty poor...and I ended up not really having a good place to pitch it.

I haven't really bought any 'finished' props since the 80s. Just things I want to turn into something else.
But, the one I remember most. I'm 8 years old (I gave up TOT and have been haunting since I was 8), and I bought a black light. Thinking how cool a black light on the porch would be, bought lots of white to glow under it....
What I got was an expensive purple light bulb.
I was very excited the following year to get a little 18" REAL black light (the only one I could find in the stores at the time...and could only dream of fog machines...)

Ha ha, years ago I found out about Oriental Trading and was in heaven going through the catalog. I bought some ceramic pumpkins. I thought the price for them was sooooooooo good. I figured I could set them outside (it's so hot here that it's hard to keep pumpkins out well in advance of the holiday).
Well, I guess I neglected to read what the size of them was. The biggest was about an inch and a half high. LOL. No wonder the price was so low.

Last Year I bought a product that you would set inside of a bush and it would shake the bush and growl. It was so cool in the store, I got it hooked up to my bush and it only worked once and that was it. Didn't even make it to Halloween party. So bummed.

Just two weeks ago I found a brand new (still in the package) Nickelodeon Goosebumps scream machine/voice changer/recorder for $1 at the flea market. Retail price is $14.99. Sound good so far?

Scream machine - $1.00
3 Required button cell batteries - $16.00
Eye glass repair kit to get the tiny freakin' screwdriver needed to get to the cover off to insert the batteries - $3.99
Finding out you just spent $20 on a $1 flea market find that works like utter crap.......well, you get the idea.
