So, thanks to a few threads I've seen recently asking you lovely people for assistance in naming a haunt, I'm here to do the same and get your input.

After watching a bit of a seminar by Mr. Leonard Pickle on youtube about starting a haunted house I've decided to come up with a theme, backstory, etc. for my fledgling haunt.

This will be my very first year haunting my yard (most likely my porch and a few feet in front LOL). In going ahead and give my haunt a theme, I'm hoping to focus on props and not waste money and time building (or I should say attempting to build) things.

I must also add that all the threads lately concerning witch themes have inspired me as well!

    Here goes:

I live in a somewhat rural area of Tennessee and my wife and I worked graveyard for many years so we always joked that we were the "hermits of our neighborhood". Seeing as how I (i.e. the man) am the one mainly involved in this endeavor I would really like to come up with a hermit or recluse theme. Theme it around a reclusive couple and make it a bit of a witchy or hedge wizard theme. Most people use the female spooky witches but I'd like to go with the reclusive creepy fellow along with his witchy wife who might dabble in potions and hoodoo and have a tendency to make trespassers disappear. A real rural feel; akin to swamp voodoo if you catch my drift. The few amateur haunts here exploit the typical hillbilly or backwoods cannibals and I'm hoping to avoid that.

So what I'd love is your input on this idea and some possible names for the haunt. We live right off a road named Sugar-hollow and so far I've come up with:

    The Haunted Hermitage
Hermits' Hollow (Hollow would most likely become Hallow; thanks to ter ran or Holler). Southern folks would get the Holler change LOL.
    The Hermitage on Sugar-hollow
    The Haunted Shack of Sugar-hollow
    The Hermits' Haunt
    Haunted Hoodoo

If I could make this thing a poll and vote on names I would LOL!

Keep in mind I have to be real careful about the witchy/magical names as I live in the Bible belt and I don't want to start a riot

Thanks in advance and sorry about the long post!

I voted for Hermits' Hollow because it was short, sweet and to the point (your description of yourself and you lived in a hollow, sort of. I also kind of liked Haunted Hoodoo, another two word, two syllables to each word name, so it would be my second choice.

I was going to go with a haunt town name of UnPleasantville for my own haunt but as I started working up town signage it became clear fast that there's a real advantage on keeping the name short if you want to include it on printed material. Both of the names above would probably fit nicely on any sign you create.

I didn't vote but I liked the words "haunted" and "hollow" and wanted to suggest:

    "The Haunted Hollow"

because that says it all for me--the other names are awesome too, I just thought I would throw in my two cents...
    "WHAT'S out there?"
