Ok if you're younger than about 33 you won't but for everyone else:
It was a puppet (Think Billy from Dead Silence)and it was a drinking and driving commercial. It was just a head shot of him talking and laughing and I know it aired on Halloween in about 1978. I stayed up real late after TOT'ing to watch a late night horror movie by myself and that commercial scared the T total crap out of me. I was about 5 and I was too petrified to leave the recliner even though it came on during every commercial break. Do any of you remember it?

Maybe if you hum a few bars? Or maybe I can name that tune in 3 notes?
Sorry, but this commercial doesn't ring a bell. What doesn't kill you can still make you walk funny.

I can honestly say I don't remember it. Could it have been a local ad? Do you remember if it was for a beer distributor or something like that?

No it was a dummy. Not a crash test dummy but a vantriloquist dummy. There wasn't music, I think it was just him talking and laughing in a creepy way.

Brewgirl, I think that is it. I looked up that movie and it said it was released in Nov. 1978 so to have seen that on Halloween night 1978 would make sense. The dummy looks the same. Don't know what made me think it was a drinking and driving commercial. But I was almost 5 so who knows. Yea that would have freaked me out. I'm almost positive that's it. Thank you
Now I wanna see the movie.

nice how his eyeballs roll up into his head, /shudders. Yeesh, I can see why this would scare any 5 year old. And good find there Brewgirl
This makes me think it was a precursor to the Chucky movies.
