Who does your Film recording/Photography on Halloween night or at you Haunt? I have the issue that I NEVER get a chance to film my haunt let alone photograph much as I have relied on my kids to do it for me. Now in searching for my pics I dont have much.. Doesnt help that my old PC hardrive burnt and lost all my pics from 07 & 08, That was not the first time either as it happened back in mid 2006. Wiped out all photos from 03-06. Many memories lost due to cheap/bad computer harddrives. So who/what do you use to capture the moments?

One word.... backup!
at least to CD or external HDD, so that you have everything in two places.
I had the same problem in early years. I was soo busy checking on everything that I never really remember to "capture the moment". Now, I try to have most everything setup by October 1st, so I have all month to take photos and videos. This way I capture different lighting effects and weather and see which photos came out best. On Halloween night, I don't worry about getting anything because I have taken pics and vid all month.

Tumblindice:I have a 2tb western digital Back-up system in place now but didnt have any in the past. I usually backed up to CD-R in the past but I didnt back up everything evidently... My fault for not taking precautions! My latest PC now has a DVD-RW which makes it easy to back up on DVD as well. All my old PC's however had DVD player/CD-RW drive's in them. Instead of purchasing a nice computer, I always put my extra money into Halloween props! lol! Live and Learn...
alucard:I am in such a craze during the month of Oct that I always overlook photos or film. I also take my 2 week vacation in the later part of Oct to set-up my Outdoor Haunt.. This year will be different though! Can't wait until October will finally be here!A Halloween prop is a terrible thing to waste..

Last year, one of the guys I work with filmed our party and took pictures. He is a semi professional film maker and photographer and has won some local recognition as a result of his talents. He did all of the filming and picture taking for free which sounds great, but actually sucks. Why? Because nobody has seen any of the footage he took since the party! He has been too busy to get around to editing anything and is not sure where he stored the files. He promises that he'll have it ready by this Halloween. We are dying to see the footage because it was the best party we ever threw. There was so much going on between serving drinks and food, the costume contest, and the games (not to mention that the entire house was set up as a haunt) that neither I nor my GF took any pictures ourselves. I should have turned down his offer and paid him like a regular customer.

We film and take pics of the setup before anyone arrives. We've also set up a hidden camera and let it run non stop the first hour to get everyone's reactions and they entered.
Most of the time I ask a friend to take pics and/or video. They actually do a much better job at it than me lol

I have a friend of my 15 year old do it. He did it last year just by chance and I have locked him in for this year. This time I should get much more. He has a very nice camera that is made for someone studying photography. (that is what he wants to do
) so hopefully this year I will get some really nice ones. Hey maybe I might actually get to be in one of them
Linus: You've heard about fury and a woman scorned?
Charlie Brown: Yes, I guess I have.
Linus: Well that is nothing compared to the fury of a woman who has been cheated out of tricks or treats!

I always forget to take photos, but in 2009 I decided to leave the display for another night and do my filming on Nov 1-- there's just too much to think about before the big night. On the 31st, however, I hand the video camera over to a relative to capture TOTs and stuff. It all worked pretty well, and, because I shot in HD, I was able to save frames of the footage as still photos

Oh, I am so bad at getting evidence of our ghosts. I'm trying to be better about it. Last year I made sure to take a bunch of pics after we set up, and this year I'm trying to document the prop building process. Usually I get so wrapped up in my mummy's (har) that I forget to get the camera out.

i took a video last year the day after halloween, somehow it just didnt seem the same. it was just a walk thru before I started to tear down. but it just wasnt the same! I am not sure if anyone else would be able to tell the difference. But this year I am going to go crazy on video (I hope). And get one of the helpers go crazy with the camera. I have a kodak easy share camera with a 8gb card. I can take up to 9999 pictures! or less if I take some videos. I love my camera. plus its easier to put my pics onto the puter than my sony handy-cam.
