Hello all! So, DH and I live in Indianapolis. Some of you may have heard of a man named Marcus Shrenker. He was a business man who stole millions from his clients, and then last year tried to fake his own death. He was a pilot, and flew a plane out to FL, parachuted out of it, let it crash, and everyone assumed he went down with it. Well, actually he had planted a get away bike, landed in the woods, and was going to start his life over again. (suspicions had been arising that he was doing some shady business and he knew he was about to get caught!) As he was hiking through the woods, he stopped and asked for directions...something like that, there was a search for him, people thought he was dead....someone realized he wasnt and recognized him....anyway, he is now in jail. Saturday they auctioned off all his belongings to make money to repay all the money he stole from clients. So a friend let me know of the auction because they had 8 tubs of Halloween decor. I went to check it out at the preview friday and was pleasantly suprised. There was a lot of cool stuff! The bins were open, but I wasnt sure if they apprecitaed me digging through them, but I had a good idea what was in there. So I registered and DH and I went back the next morning. The auction got going and I anxiously waited for them to get to the Halloween items. There were a few people waiting in that area, so I though there could be some stiff competition! They had some tombstones there, but were to "cute" for my taste. So they sold those and a lighted tree missing its base. Then they got to the tubs. Started at $75 a tub, then down to $65, 60, 55, 50...I raised my hand at $50 bc there was a tub with three foggers in it with timers that could be good. Well, someone beat me to it (this was my first auction, btwIf you won the bid you got to pick which tub you wanted. Well, she picked the one with the foggers. I wasnt really that bummed out bc we are actually using a commercial stadium hazer for our haunt this year (used for sporting events and concerts! so excited) so I didn't really need the foggers, but I love them. Since I was the second bid, the auctioneer asked me if I wanted next choice at $50. I said no and the bidding began. Then he made it to $25 and I raised my hand, and no one wanted to go higher so I got to pick as many tubs as I wanted for $25 each. So I picked the Gemmy one I couldn't tell what it was but that was ok. (We don't us inflatables other than a Haunted House, as it is a good activity for the little ones who don't want to go through the yard or in the basement) Then I picked the one with the decor I had seen the day before, the one with all the spot lights bc there are tons of them (I counted 21 lights with stakes!) We can really use those for the grave yard. Then I wasn't sure which other I wanted because I had looked through the other ones as they were stacked high and heavy to move. So I was thinking it over, discussing with my DH, then people started getting antsy! So I saw there was a ghost in one on the bottom one that I knew I liked and had several to match, so I said "Ill take the bottom one" hoping I picked right! I knew what was basically in the top two and it was a lot of serving trays and bowls I didnt need! Turns out it was the tub with the ceramic busts and skeletons on stands from target! (tub #1) Great pick!! Then the Black lights went up for sale and we stole those for $30.00! So we got everything below for $130.00 plus $20.00 for auction fees! What a steal! I am very excited!
Our first auction was a success! Three weeks ago we made a huge craigs list score...its been a good month so far!! I love looking at all my new decor!

Congrats! When I saw another report on the news about the stuff I spotted some more halloween and was surprised at the skulls I saw. That family does NOT look like they would have been into anything but cutesy...lol! So how many hours did you have to wait for the halloween to come up for sale? I already own nearly all of what you posted so I'm glad I didn't go and wait around for nothing.
