Anyone else ever do this? I sorta did it last year. I went over to my parent's house to pass out candy, but hardly any kids came to the door! I ended up wishing I hadn't dressed up (even though I was just in a business suit with blood on it) or even bothered sitting out there passing out a candy. I went back to my apartment and watched some special features on my "Monsters Crash The Pajama Party" DVD and then watched The Devil's Rejects.
Anyhow, I am thinking of doing the same thing this year. Different movies however and not dressing up or even buying candy and spending the whole evening at my parent's house, waiting for kids to show up. Instead I'll just stay at my place and watch movies. I am thinking about some of the classic black and white horror flicks. My only concern is I'm worried I'll regret not going out, but I didn't last year really. This new Halloween tradition is still a minor adjustment I suppose. I've also even consider going to see a scary movie on Halloween night at the local movie theater so that way I don't feel like a complete loser, but who knows....maybe I'll get there and be around a bunch of people acting stupid and then I may end up wishing I had just stayed home.
I'm rambling. Sorry. Back to my point: Who else enjoys an evening at home on Halloween and what to do you?
On another note: This is the only place I can think of where it's socially acceptable to discuss Halloween plans in late June. Anywhere else, people would probably be asking why I'm even thinking about Halloween during this time of the year. Thank goodness for this forum.![]()

I have to go out in some way on Halloween night. My mom is a huge practical joker and on Halloween '09 we played one on her. Then a bunch of us came home and watched Trick r' Treat on DVD that I had been saving. It was an awesome night. But I have to go out somewhat so I can "feel" the REAL Halloween. Not just the one I feel the other 364 days of the year.

We'll usually go out but this is the first year we'll be living in a house and not an apartment so me and my wife are just going to stay in and hand out candy to trick or treaters. Sometimes it's fun to just turn the lights out, light some jack o lanterns and watch Halloween on Halloween
Now my nightmares know my name...

I have loved Halloween since I was a little boy and I still do. The thing is, I put so much time, sweat, thought, energy and money into Halloween for sooooooooooo long that I think I basically overate some of it and I'm still recovering.
(I mean the "sweat" part litreally. One of the reasons I wanted to lose so much weight was because I did not want to be a "Fat Jason". I did end up losing weight and it took me almost a year and then through the years on Halloween night I'd sweat all night while wearing the costume and mask.)
I am going to be 28-years old the day after Halloween. Now I don't believe people "outgrow" anything. Heck, what exactly is an "adult"? I better not get started on the subject or I'l really ramble. Anyhow, I think people just get burned out on some things.
That would me my case with dressing up on Halloween. I still love and enjoy Halloween. I just think I want to celebrate it differently for right now.

I usually do lot's of Halloween stuff EXCEPT on the actual day, unless it falls on a Sat...I always have the party on Sat closest to Halloween to be sure lot's of people come.....We go to the annual Halloween parade on the 3rd Wed of the month....We go to the local campground the weekend before our party and go trough the haunted forest/barn, look at the decorations at everyone's campsite...This year we are staying over night....Make as many trips to all the stores when we get a chance to see if there's anything cool we don't have yet and to get party supplies through out the month.....Try to catch some cool sitcom Halloween shows in the evenings.....It's definitely the busiest month!....ZR

I am thinking watching a horror movie or two on Halloween night may be my new tradition. You can watch a horror movie anytime of the year, but I discovered last year that there's something very cool about watching a scary movie on Halloween night. The mood and atmosphere is different. It's like watching a Christmas movie on Christmas Eve. Sure, you can watch it any night of the year, but it's more fun to watch it on Christmas Eve. It's the same deal with horror movies on Halloween night.
Anyhow, usually around this time I am thinking about what I am going to dress up as. Lately, I have been thinking about what movie or movies I should watch.

I agree completely. I'm thinking this year about watching Devil Dog. It was the first horror movie that I can remember watching. I stayed up late after trick or treating to watch it. I was about 5 I guess. I was terrified. It probably won't have the same effect, but maybe.

That's cool! I'm thinking about checking out the 1930's Dracula and Frankenstein. They both seem like very fun, classic and traditional movies to watch on Halloween night. Like watching "It's a Wonderful Life" and/or "Miracle on 34th Street" on Christmas Eve. They have a historical significance about them. Even though I was not even alive in the 1930's, watching older black and white movies sometimes makes me feel nostalgic for some reasons. I'd compare it to warm and fuzzy childhood feelings. I like that. lol.
Both movies are kinda short, but if watched together, it makes for about two and a half hours of movie watching. I've already seen Dracula a few times, but never on Halloween night. I have never seen Frankenstein before, but I've seen bits and pieces of it over the years and the little bit I have seen was good. I've read the book before too and liked it a lot so they seem like the two best choices.
