It's officially summer on the calendar and outside here in northern AR.. I hate summer, but it does make me look forward to cool autumn nights, rustling leaves and other harbingers of Halloween. Happy summer for those who enjoy it.. i'm going underground until September.

Summer can be creepy as well though. that scene near the beginning of Jeepers Creepers 2, where you see the scarecrow for what it is and the folk in the movie are just sitting ducks, it's like it's broad daylight, not in the dark so there's nowhere to hide.

It's about four months to Halloween, and now is when I really start thinking about getting some projects in gear --- and then I open the door to the garage/workshop and it's hotter than an oven out there! The temps this week are pushing 100 degrees, and it will stay that way till late September.

Now I remember why I always end up trashing my dining room with projects in progress!!

Actually this weather makes me think about Halloween .. literally. I've always had manual labor jobs and have been exposed to the elements. Today it was in the 90s and I was sweating my ass off and hating life in the factory that I work.. all I could think about was how much more I liked the Cooler weather than Hotter. Then from there it was a hop skip and a Jump to thinking about Halloween.

When its about 3 degrees cooler than the sun and youre doing the same task over and over and over again in a factory .. your mind starts to wonder.

... mind normally wonders to October 31st.

I wish we had snow! Down here it's Summer from April - November. The last time I went Trick or Treating (a few years ago) we had to ask for waterbottles instead of candy at a few houses since we were dying!

I'm longing for Halloween too. I love Fall in Texas, however, the summer sucks! We've had 95+ degrees and even a few 100's thrown in there since the first part of June. And it's only going to get hotter. I will have to clean off my worktable in the office and start working on small stuff inside. I could work outside, but just from about sunup (still about 80 degrees) to about 10 am (already in the 90's). Can't get too much down in that amount of time. Come on Fall!!!!!

You are so right, Kjbittick! The last couple of weeks of 90+ temps has really put a crimp in my plans to start my H-projects, but I'm not going to let it get me down this weekend! I've already recruited my husband, daughter and son-in-law to help me get moving, beginning with building our bloody fountain/bird bath and about 15 support poles sunk into cement bricks. Seriously, if I don't get busy, I will never get everything done in time, and certainly Texas weather in the summer doesn't change much!
