picked one up at Target last year for 20.00.
2011 will be our 8th year and After having several outrageous Halloween Parties, we know that we will never get an invite to anyone else's party. So we keep throwing our own!

I picked up one earlier this year for a great price. His plumage is too beautiful to change him into a skeleton parrot. He'll be the only "survivor" among my skeleton crew.
I plan on crafting a small eye patch and hat for him, and then place him near the door. When the ToTs approach, I will activate the remote to have him say a bevy of smart-ass phrases.

He is in great shape Bobzilla. I had one in my cart one spring day (on clearance at Target for something like $15--they had them displayed as you walked in) and hubby saw it and made me put it back. I meant to go out the next morning and buy him but got busy and forgot and when I went back it had sold out. Arrrrr !!! Anyway, nice find!
He looks good as is but I always thought the "feathers" looked kind of like a cheap rug. I'd say since you're thinking of it and sound like you want to do it, I say go ahead and pluck the bird!
I wonder if you could paint the shell of his body matte black and create some sort of rib cage with some material (like clay but something else) and glue that on to make his skeleton. Maybe leave him with a few tail feathers and a few on top (I think the black and white part of his head looks nice and I'd be thinking to maybe keep that).

These are alot of fun, I picked up 3 of them at different thrift stores.
Here is a little video I took of them all lined up. One of them has a broken foot, and he fell over. LOL

I like the "repeat" option where you talk into it and it repeats what you say but more "bird like".
Great find!

ghost of spookie, your hubby sounds like mine, and you sound exactly like me. put back, go back, gone. some dang men anyway. bob, i think i wouldn't pluck his feathers. i think he is to nice looking. but if you could control what he says, you could have fun with that.

With three of them, if you can time them just right, you can have them repeat after each other until they go crazy!
I wonder what would happen if I place my Squawkers McCaw and my kid's Simon the Talking the Bear in the same room together. It'd probably make for an interesting conversation and a great youtube video.
