It's time to start thinking about what I am going to do for this year's haunt. I am looking for a few ideas of settings (i.e. pirate ship, toxic spill). What is everyone planning for this year? Any ideas and pictures would be appreciated.

I have a graveyard and pumkin patch each year, but typically have three other settings each year. I've used the toxic spill and pirate ship the past few years and I am looking for some new, fresh ideas!

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Glad you asked this. I have the same thing on my mind. I was thinking; with "Alice in Wonderland" being so popular right now, that I would try a few nursery rhyme or fairytale scenes but kind of drawing a blank for ideas.
What kind of ideas are you looking for? Scary? Gory? For little TOT's or adults? I am sure I can help. I've done so many various scenes.

medusa - I try to keep the front yard TOT friendly so I go with the pumkin patch. So, basically I am looking for something scary, something gory that is for both older kids and adults. If anyone has a suggestion for TOT friendly I am open to that as well.

I am at a lost this year too. No sure what I am going to add to the Charilie Brown gang, pumpkin's and cemetary. I was thinking about doing some floating pumpkin's in the front tree. Other than that, I am just not sure, so I could use some ideas too please.

Ok, A butcher shop scene with fake arms,,legs hanging from meat hooks( or just meat hooks hanging all around.Make these out of aluminum foil...easy) . Signs like" Ground Chuck 99cent per pound...Ground Charles $5.99 per pound" ' Human....the other white meat" Put fake eyeballs in a jar " Eyes..$2.50 each/$4.00 per pair " Bloody hands in a bowl or box " Ground handburger..$3.00 a pound .Of course, have your butcher there with a bloody apron on.
Have you ever done the person cut in half trick? That one would work good in the butcher shop or all alone.
I love the coffin with a door but no back ( spray paint inside of coffin all red and put a piece of red material hanging on the back so it looks like the back is solid) Hang a skeleton with the light up eyes in coffin. Have a guide lead group to coffin ( coffin is standing up) he tells group "They've killed my master..they've killed Dracula....come see!!" He opens the coffin door and shows them the skeleton and then closes the door back and says sommething like" Oh my poor, poor master" and OUT jumps an actor dressed as a vampire!!!!! (The actor slips in through the material as soon as the door is closed back) BE SURE the area right in front of the coffin is roped off so people cannot stand too close and get knocked down when he jumps out and of course, tell your guide to step clear as soon as he closes the door.
If you want more ideas, just say the word...I got loads of them and I love sharing!!

Evil Clowns are always scary and that Samora chick from the Ring is very creepy.
Spiders are always easy to do with the webs and egg sacks and you could always hang a prop or skeleton all cocooned.
Witches are always timeless, potions, spell books
This year my theme is the cemetary, funeral parlor and morgue. i've got a coffin (that my very talented Mom has made) body bags etc.

I was thinking of doing fallen gods, and have everyone come dressed up as a bloodied greek god/goddess.
Hello, I want my book. Bonjour, je veux mon livre.

Toxic Spill would echo well with the gulf coast oil spill. I'm thinking of doing something for the sidewalk on the side of my house (I live on a corner). Have a person dressed up as a worker, they would either stand next to a barrel of "toxic material" or be pushing it on a hand truck. They would stop and ask people if they seen their partner, then the "partner" would jump up out of the barrel. You could use a person or a prop for the partner. You could have it so the first person activates it. Simple, should get a scream a laugh or two.
