I have not been as active in the past four months as I'd like to have been. Halloween has been put aside and I'm now thinking it won't even happen this year. Is this just a mid season burn out?

I think we are at 150 or so days and counting and while I have ideas and props I'm in all stages of working on, our kitchen is being remodeled and the downstairs is pretty much torn apart right now. Our garage is full of construction materials, my tools are buried in there along with things we had to move out of the way from the downstairs, and our backyard is no where ready to be tackled. Everything but the backyard should have been done and finished by now. Believe me every time I log on here and see that countdown clock I'm a little bummed! I so wanted to get a good early start on things. I'm not sure what exactly will get finished and set up for halloween this year but it will be something. I might scale back anyway because of it falling on Sunday this year and based on Saturday last year we didn't get much traffic at all, unlike the previous year.
I think once the real halloween stuff starts coming out in the stores everyone will start feeling motivated. I love looking at the pics in the prop section to see what people have been working. Just wish I could get going on my own stuff.

The fun we may get from it, that is.
Just spend 15 minutes arranging a simple scare, scare them and enjoy, laugh about it for the rest of your life!?
Or work every spare moment to build a great and wonderfull whatitz...and it doesn't work like you thought that it would, nobody is impressed, nobody seems to care, grit your teeth and begin again with no guarantees that it will make happen what you envision the second try either.....
If anyone is feeling burnt out try the first, easiest thing here . Keep it simple and cheap and creative and WOW!
There you go.
I get antsie thinking about the things I would like to be doing but I also have all of the maintenance to do here and the vines and tree limbs to trim and cut eat up 2 weeks a summer here! This is not counting the 2- 2-1/2 hrs a week of pushing the lawn mower!
I spent today just re-sorting tool boxes refinding my tools again! Then some more trimming, brushwork, picking up scrap metal, moving it away. Oh. I also did the dishes and laundry today and now I'm sitting here waiting to possibly do house tours tonight. (we never know?)
I love entertaining people every night in my haunted, haunted house.
Last night it was too scary outside for anyone to venture out.."BOOM! CRACKLE!!! Flash BOOM again! Rain,rain,rain......A good night to have been here to hear my house's ghostly history.
(Might have been too spooky for many under such weather conditions, I would have taken that chance!)"My Insanity is well-respected, until they wiggle free and become a stringer for a tabloid"

I am so into halloween right now. I`ve been making little clay pumpkins, working on one of my dead guys and I started the skull for the next one.Only three more to go after these two are done. lol. I still have to get my lighting out and mess with that and set up my sound . you know just to make sure everything works.

I started building props last year at the end of January, this year? Not a single thing and no plans for any yet.
Unfortunately life has been beating the crap out of me lately, and I just can't drum up the same excitement about Halloween this year, so I definitely am in the same boat.I'm a Halloween Bride! 10/31/2002

I think it happens to everyone.
Just use what you already have, maybe try a different layout, but essentially take the year off and don't make anything new unless it is simple/quick/easy.
Sometimes you just need a break, sit back and just enjoy the madness, rather than adding to it.

I'm not actively working on anything, but I do have a theme. I've been gathering some items as I find them and thinking of how I can make some of the things. Right now, I'm more interested in getting my gardens squared away before I can do any major Halloween projects. I'm still very excited and looking forward to Halloween this year, but I'm just not too focused on it due my other summertime projects.
I think you'll get back into the spirit as summer progresses. I'm rooting for you!!!Duct tape is a ghoul's best friend.

You know, honestly, I had the same thoughts last September. By the end of the month I knew I was going to do Halloween...just like I do it every year. Trust me. The spirit will move you. So to speak.

Like IshWitch said....use what you've already got. I had a nice setup last year and if I just put the same thing up, nobody would know different and I'd still have the biggest display in the hood. And that probably goes for most of the people here
