Since Halloween is on a Sunday, I am planning to open my haunt to the public on Friday till Sunday. I wonder, should I give candies during the 3 nights or just on Halloween?
What are you planning since Halloween is on a Sunday?

Yes, darn it Halloween being on a sunday....and mon, tue, wed, and thur....for the next couple years. So we are having an open house on saturday night the 30th. Since we are sending out invitations, we will be handing out treats! I think its a nice touch, even if you pass out some of the cheaper candies (dum dum pops, tootsie rolls, smarties) Plus, it will add to your fun too! And it will maybe bring repeat TOT the next night, and next year for that matter!

In all the years we've been doing the yard haunt, I've never seen any kids trick or treating around here except right on Halloween night. Is it because we're in SoCal, or what? Who the heck knows.
Anyway, when Halloween falls on a Sunday what I've always done is kept a bowl of candy near the front door in case any TOTs came around on Fri. or Sat. night, or very early on Sunday before it's dusk & we're in the front yard with the lights & fx on. Pretty much the same for Halloween on weeknights- just kept some candy handy near the door for any early birds. The boundaries which divide Life from Death are at best shadowy and vague.
Who shall say where the one ends...the other begins?

halloween night will be the night for us, although with it being on a sunday i don't think we will have as many tots . our town center always has a merchant night ( where the stores dress up and pass out candy around 4p.m.) a day or two before halloween, it is mostly for the very small tots. but we will be ready no matter what.. i would like to have some decent weather if possible..

Handing out candy a couple nights before sounds like a good idea as long as all the extra candy doesn't put you over your budget

I've never heard of trick-or-treating any night but Halloween even if it does fall on a Sunday.
Opening your haunt multiple nights just sounds fun and if you can afford it I'd put out candy each night since that's what kids are really about when it comes to Halloween. If you don't you might quite a few crying kids and angry parents.
You could always buy in bulk at a Costco or Sams Club or you could hit a store like Save-A-Lot if there's one near you.

If it won't cost a whole lot more I'd try it out. Just limit yourself on how many pieces of candy you give to each person.
halloween is a super cool holiday.

I have always had our haunt open the week end before and the week end of halloween and have never even thought of giving candy out on any day except halloween night. I think people come to our house anyways for the fun of the haunt, even on halloween most people including kids don t even ask for candy, they are mostly here for the scares! I am actually going to cut back ALOT on treats this year, we can never get rid of it all.

If there were more than one trick-or-treat night, I'd gladly give out treats each night. Halloween is special but I just can not see limiting such a fun time. We aren't running a haunt but personally, I'd give out a small treat (just one piece) for anyone who came to the haunt. I do give out treats on non-Halloween days to spread the creepy happiness...For instance, one year I homemade all sorts of chocolates and lollipops and made a huge arrangement on a tray including gummy spiders and stuff, and sent it in with my husband for his office to enjoy...I remember I sent it in a couple of days before Halloween.

I've seen where people open their haunt a day or two early and instead of handing out candy, they send out flyers and advertise it as a food drive. I'm thinking of doing this this year, not because we'll be having Halloween on Saturday, but because if we do the food drive the weekend before, we get the publicity and should get more ToTs
