Came across a website where a town does a haunted chili cookoff. I love that idea! I am the fundraiser organizer for our local marching band and I am going to have to do this. Has anybody ever been to one? Anything to have a Halloween Party Any suggestions?

Sounds like fun. I love chili and it's a great, fairly inexpensive thing to prepare and tastes so great during the cooler fall months.

Was this the website you were referring to: http://www.hauntedhayrides.org/Haunt...okoff2008.html I love some of their past booth ideas and what a great idea to do a contest for best decorated booth. Wish I could have seen a better picture for the CSI (Chili Scene Investigation) booth.

We always have chilibeans at our party. It is a huge hit.I love all the raves it gets.Makes my head swell and I am always getting request for them.My secret with chilibeans is to cook it and then put in the fridge overnight the next morning put in crockpot.Makes them awesome.Hot dog chili my ingrendents make it different than most.I use ketchup and mustard in it as well as the other common chilli ingredents.Little odd but taste great.

This is the most wonderful community-based Halloween idea I've read about in a while!! You better believe I'm gonna try to contact some folks involved with our local cookoff to see if they wouldn't consider it this year...ours is always the first weekend in October. THAT. WOULD. BE. PERFECT.

Holy Cow! So I clicked on the link, and saw that it is held in Brownsburg....so I thought Brownsburg, where? Because there is a Brownsburg not far from my house, and I work with several people who live there. But surely it cannot be?? So then I looked at the info closer and its Brownsburg Indiana, 20 MINUTES FROM MY HOUSE!!!!!!! I cant believe it....I had no idea this existed!! I cannot wait to attend this year. Yet another reason I love this board...here I live so close and never knew! Im so excited, this has made my day!!!

We used to do a Chili Cook-off at work for Super Bowl Friday. It was great, 'cuz both guys and gals cook chili and always think theirs is the best. I made blue ribbons that said JUDGE with an Alka-Seltzer packet at the top. For the Top 3 winners, I wood burned the handle of wooden spoons with the Super Bowl logo and First, Second, Third place and tied ribbon to the handle. Everyone wanted a spoon so they brought their "A" chili.

The next town over, Meridian, Idaho has a Chili Cook-Off every year as a fund raiser, they get lots of media coverage, too!
