- Absolutely, unequivocally, unmistakably, undeniably, unprecedentedly, NO WIND!!
- All props and lights working perfectly

What a great idea for a thread! Thanks for posting it, pumpkinman!

My perfect Halloween would be:
-I awake well rested before dawn to do the Final final lighting/props/fog run through. Grab a cup o' joe, fire everything up & hey presto! it all works perfectly. I'm done in half an hour.
-No wind, no rain/drizzle the day before or on Halloween. Let's make it that whole week before Halloween during all the set up (this is wishful thinking, but I can dream!).
-All members of the haunt crew are able to show up in late afternoon ready to go with no job interferences to worry about.
-We get more TOTs than ever before & even more canned good donations for the food bank (gave out 200+ bags of candy, filled 3 donation barrels in '09. Booyah!)
-Starting at dusk the magic happens: our house/yard is transformed into that spooky place we all remember from our childhoods that was the most fun EVER to visit on Halloween. Smiles, laughter, screams, flashing cameras, great conversations with neighbors, the whole nine yards. Unknown neighbor who brought the mulled cider reappears so we can get to know her/thank her.
AND...
-I magically don't feel tired and/or achy from "striking the set" (the props, lights, fence, etcetcetc from the front yard) at the end of the evening to prevent possible vandalism.
-Sig other & I curl up in front of the den fireplace with the dogs at our feet. We raise gin & tonics to toast a frightfully good Halloween had by all!The boundaries which divide Life from Death are at best shadowy and vague.
Who shall say where the one ends...the other begins?

My Halloween will be over by then since they'll be ToTing on Saturday, the 30th.
However, running with the 30th...like the others, I want a warmish non-windy day. The garage and backyard will have been decorated earlier in the week and the only thing left is to put out a couple fog machines.
The football Gods smile on me and hold the Nebraska/Missouri game to an early morning start so that I can watch the game in peace. At about 5:00, the sky turns unexpicably black so that the ToTs will be coming around in the dark, instead of the daylight caused by that stupid daylight savings hour.
I don't know the numbers, but I'd like a steady stream of ToTs from 6 - 9
By ten o'clock, the stuff is put away and the other haunters have left, then the Swedish Bikini Team shows up for a couple hours of trickin and treatin
The next morning each of the Bikini Team girls stakes out a Spirit or Halloween USA store and brings me back a grunch of discounted props.....and since it's now the 31st, we do some more trickin and treatin

Oh yeah, one other thing...they outlaw Trunk or Treats and Harvest parties from the 28th through the 31st of October. And they let kids have Halloween parties in schools with costumes and snacks and all that fun stuff like we used to do

After winning the lottery and retiring so I'm able to sleep in,
I get up with the hubby and finish the preparations to our yard display that now has tons of custom animatronics and perfect lighting (as I'm able to either buy or build more intricate stuff due to the lottery win and having all that free time
).
We'd go out for our anniversary lunch and come back for a quick nap before final costuming and several of our friends will arrive a little before nightfall to help with the scares.
The weather would be unusually cool and overcast - say in the 50s and the full moon playing hide-and-seek with the clouds and a light breeze just barely there swirls the fog in the yard into lovely patterns.
The TOTs are plentiful and well-costumed and there are no rude parents or children in the bunch. Our neighbors have also decorated, so there are many of us out in our yards and listening to the shrieks and giggles from the kids as they go door to door.
The last group would be finished around 10ish and we'll have given out all of our candy without running out and it takes no time at all to put away all of the haunt into their neatly assigned spots in storage (definitely a fantasy there!) and our friends all come inside to watch scary movies and have a mini-party to celebrate.
Everyone gets home safe and we go to sleep in the wee hours tired but happy.

The perfect Halloween happens every year! As long as kids are smiling and having fun at the haunt, candy levels stay up and we watch Charlie Brown GP and Garfield Halloween all will be bliss.

No huge demands here. No wind, dead calm. Warmish night. Full Moon, cloudless sky. Gimme that and I'll take care of the rest.

As long as we're fantasizing here, how about Thunder claps and Lightening bolts on demand? On a clear, cloudless night, now that would be something!

And Rick Baker to do our make-up.
And speacial guest appearances by Cindy Crawford, Selma Hayek, Angelina Jolie, Elizabeth Hurley and Snoop Dog. OK, girls, I hear ya, George Clooney, Tom Cruise and Russel Crowe will also be there.
After a Hallowe'en like that, I'd have to close forever.Wolfman
