what a load,, i have other places i can go,, but walmart was the easiest for me to get it from,, so of course i hit google on the subject as soon as i got back to work and of course there are others like me out there that are not to thrilled about the "new corporate decision" to remove fabric sales at all the new "remodeled" stores... you can call their corporate office at 1/800-925-6278 and politly tell them that they might have messed up by doing that (i know i spend quite a bit on fabric purchases there myself)
ok, off my rant now.

about 2 yrs. ago,in some respects..no great loss.
I have purchased some really crap fabric there for my haunted house.
It was supposed to be black denium, a month later after one washing it had metamorphissised, now it was a ball of black string! Not very tightly tied together, either!
I paid less, but I still expected MORE!"My Insanity is well-respected, until they wiggle free and become a stringer for a tabloid"

I liked to go to walmart at times also. It was always open later. We Always had late hour craft and school projects, that just needed something. I was told by a employee that the mom liked all the craft and sewing items. The kids have now taken over the business , and it now looks like all the other stores. I don't go there as much either.

One of the Wal-marts in our general area use to have a fabric dept and I actually thought it was great. Much for the same convenience reasons you guys have mentioned. They also had a nice discount on patterns too. I think that fabric dept. closed a year or two ago. We have other places in the area for fabric but yeah it was a nice resource. We are among those people who shop late at night on occasion so having late night stores or 24 hour places is great.

is it all wal-marts? i give most my business to wal-mart, it's open 24/7 and reasonably priced. hobby lobby and wal-mart both cut back in the fabric department awhile back here, but totally not sell, that's tough. joannes fabric will be clicking their heels.

Have 'heard' that all new/ remodeled stores will be doing away with the fabric. It supposedly saves $ by not having to have an employee there to cut material. Also, 'heard' that the fish dept is next to go.

i guess i can understand the fish department, when you go there they always have a lot of floaters. but the material angle i don't understand, noone is ever in the material department, they are off doing other things. you have to ring a bell and wait. then ring the bell again and wait. then you wander around the store till you find some worker and ask if you can get help. then you go back and wait. one time i was so tired i thought about laying out on the counter and taking a nap during the wait.
