Tonight I have officially started building props for my yard haunt this year...I've never started this early before but it's because I'm not sure how much time I will have once late august-september rolls around so. Tonight I began work on a movie ticket booth I'm going stick a corpse in (sort of like the cover of creepshow)![]()

The ticket booth sounds like a great idea! I always get "the itch" right after New Years, but the real building usually starts in late March (after Transworld). I've learned the hard way, that waiting until Aug, or Sept. is just too damned stressful. For me, the worst thing is starting a really cool project, and having to hurry to get it done on time, or not getting it done at all. I think the quality usually suffers when you hurry! My list of projects is HUGE this year, so I've started early. We'll see how many actually make it for the big day.

it's funny my neighbor and I were talking and she mentioned "so what time are you going to start building this year for halloween ?" I have a basic frame for it so far I going to work some more on it today. I agree August & September get too stressfull to finish everything. I'm hoping this comes out good I'm going to try and take my time on it

Black Friday, welcome to the Club! I have all the props I'll need, but, back when I was accumulating stuff, I used to start putting things together in May, Saturday mornings, between glimpses of Baseball on the tube. You can take your time and get things right, the weather is great, you name it. And, I find any sort of craft, working with one's hands, to be an excellent stress relief valve. You may find that the neighborhood kids love it, too.

^ That's exactly what I was thinking because I still need a lot of props for the yard. I have an OK amount but no where near what I want

I've been buying up the parts and pieces of my props since February, and my plan is to actually start the building beginning Memorial Day weekend. I have to make 15 supports to hold up my "walls", so I have bought the necessary PVC pipes and quick dry cement. Getting those made is project #1.
My next project is to redo the front of my crypt. Last year the wind nearly tore it apart, so I need to attach stronger supports to it because I'm really proud of it and want to keep using it.
Project #3 is to build a skull fountain that flows blood. Anybody have any ideas on what I can use to make the "blood" that won't clog up the pump?

Black Friday you may be able to find some thing on Craigslist that you could use for your ticket booth. The other day I saw someone giving away a very nice lemonade stand. That way you don't have to spend so much money, and can use your time for other props.
I have started on my tombstones for this year, and am busy modifying mannequin heads to use in my haunt. You can get mannequin heads from cosmetology schools and get them to fit on any mannequins that don't have heads.
Good luck, Black Friday! We all have it coming kid.
