I've been seeing so many of you with great craigslist finds here lately...and I'm so completely and utterly jealous.
Anytime I search for "halloween," all I come up with are baby costumes and DVDs. I suppose it's the luck of what's available in the area, but are there any other searches I should try? And I'm curious...how often do you search?

I search several times a day. In addition to Halloween, try skeleton, skull, pirate, mannequin, prop, costume, that sort of thing.

Obviously, Location, Location, and Location....I haven't scored anything directly Halloween but things I will use for Halloween...I got a great old pump organ by doing a search for "organ"......Maybe type in "antique", you'll get some cool stuff.....Last weekend I got 45 sheets of styrofoam....This weekend I got a big craftsman air compressor for $50 in great shape.....These things were found by looking at the entire "for sale" category which is time consuming but pays off sometimes....I'll also do a search for "Halloween" and "Haunted House"....I had 1 ad come up once that had lot's of H stuff with good prices but not a very motivated seller.....I asked to see bigger pictures of some things because they were only thumnail size and I would have had to drive 2 hours to get there....Never got pics so it never went further.....You just have to keep watching and try to be the first to respond.....Good Luck.....ZR

NOW I'm getting somewhere! Just found a 9 ft Frankenstein monster, skeleton with coffin, lite boxes...whoa. Going to check these out in awhile. Also, GREAT finds searching for antiques...there are some creepy home decor items out there.
Thanks to all for your help. I'll post photos if I end up with anything...

Skullea I use a more proactive method on craigslist and I actual post an ad stating " I have cash seeking your retired halloween decor." It is amazing how many people email me with really cool Halloween stuff. Yes you get some blah stuff people want to sell you but you just decline it. Last year I brought home 2 truck loads for 75.00 and this year I brought home a truck load just for trading the person 2 or 3 video games I didnt use anymore. Everything they had was awesome and will be in this years haunt.
