I figured after having a yard haunt for the past 5 years or so I should finally make a website for it. Just curious as to how all of you with websites for your haunts went about starting it? Where do you "rent" your domain from and what web site program did you all use? Thanks for any help, tips or suggestions!. Also, the name of my haunt is "Murray Manor" and unfortunately there is a bed and breakfast place in Canada that already has www.murraymanor.com so I was thinking of using
www.Murray-Manor.com. What do you think? Thanks!!

I just did ours last week. Program I use is Webstudio 4.0. I think there is a new version out now. My wesite host is Startlogic.com I used photoshop elements 6.0 to modify the picture to look creepy and to write the text.

Kenpilot, unless you want some potential B&B guests visiting your site, I would suggest going with a domain name that sets you apart from the other site and makes your site easily identifiable, such as murraymanorhaunt.com.
Has anyone used free Google Sites to create a haunt-related website ($10 to register a domain name)?

I use webs as well for my current site, though I am working on an original design that I created myself and built using dreamwaever. I use bluehost.com to host my site.

I use Frontpage 2003, but I would suggest another product for designing your pages. My host is godaddy.com.
I would definitely find a name that makes you unique or sets you apart from other sites.

If you don't know html and aren't sure where to begin, you might also want to look into something like Network Solutions. They offer website hosting that includes templates that you just fill in. The forms work much the way they do here on the forum, you just type in your info, click the image icon to insert a picture, and so on. We use the pro version of their shopping cart for our website. I've learned a little html over the years, but I'm no expert and the beauty of it is I don't have to be. They have basic sites for lower costs and I just took a peak at their site and it says something about free websites too (don't know if there's a catch). I've used their service for several years now and I couldn't be happier :-)
Good luck!!
