Please tell me I am not alone in this.
A few things have driven me to this point. One is that due to a change in family circumstances (read: tolerance for storing props year-round), I'm going to have to sell off a big chunk of them after this year's haunt. I don't want to buy something only to turn around and sell it at a loss a few months later, so I'm being much more targeted in my purchases rather than my usual "This will come in handy somewhere!" method.
What odds and ends I am still buying are taking my into shopping areas where there's a big overlap in the kinds of props I'll need for this year and next, so since I'm shopping the clearance aisle anyway I figure I may as well pick up the occasional small piece here and there in preparation.
And finally: I have a 2011 theme I'm mega-excited aboutI love what I'm doing for 2010 and it will be spectacular, but I'm almost as excited about the 2011scene that should still look great even with a substantially reduced number of props at my disposal.

This year is The Deadly Sins, and I'm going absolutely all out on it. My biggest problem right now, besides finding the time and workspace to complete my repairwork and builds, will be figuring out how to fit everything I have planned onto my suddenly-too-small yard. Technically the shopping for it is almost over, with just a fine minor accessories yet to be bought, but we know how THAT goes.

Next year.... is still a secret
It will include a full-fledged wedding as the centerpiece, that much I'll say. I'm already scoping out wedding cake designs to use as inspiration. I must admit, although I hate weddings with a passion (unless they involve dead people!) I am in awe of the skill of some of the bakers whose work I've looked at recently.

hhmmmm, should be interesting. there was the movie out about that with i believe morgan fairchild. are you going along the lines like that. so is next year the heavenly virtues?
i usually know what i'm doing for the next year already, but this year i can't quite decide. i have several ideas in mind, but none of them grab me. maybe a monsters christmas theme. but not the grinch, or the nightmare before christmas. something of my own, something fresh. maybe more along the line of an adams or munsters type family. i'm always grabbing up stuff that is christmasy for my haunt.

I haven't planned for 2011 yet, but have a plan for the 2012. my 2012 haunt is going to be based on 12/21/2012. Vague info, but all you gotta do is google it and you''ll see where i'm going.

Yes I'm planning, I need to get some stuff on paper next. I want to do an ancient jungle temple or egyptian pyramid/ expedition gone bad theme.
Think Indiana Jones.
Deserted camp (except for the mutilated bodies of the expedition) Drums or sounds in the distance of someone or something not too far away...
I dunno, that kind of thing.A Huge dose of reality in one bitter little pill.

Yeah, I've come up with next years theme. It's going to be witches. Like babba hut. I'm going to make her hut out of some old wood into an octagon and use a thatched umbrella for the roof.
This year is going to be skeletons so I'm going to try and get my cemetary a little larger and incorporate 3 singing 3 axis skulls. Also, I'm building a mausolem with a fcg. I can't start on the mausoleum until later in the year because, it's going to be huge and I don't want to kill our grass.
