What will the weather be like in the U.S.A. next Halloween? The National Weather Service Climate Prediction Center has some forecasts:

    Temperature probability

    Precipitation probability

EC = Equal chance of above normal, normal, or below normal

The numbers refer to probability. For example, "33" on the temperature map means there is a 33% chance the temperature will be above normal.

It's a little early to forecast the weather, isn't it?

I will keep updating these long-range forecasts as they become available.

Well, I wonder how accurate a forecast six months into the future can be.

Cool website! I was at the store and the cashier was trying to tell me that because of the volcano in Iceland that the temps for the rest of the year would be cooler than normal. I know that can be true of there's a huge eruption and massive amounts of ash in the air, I didn't think this one had been big enough, but I guess we'll wait and see! Anyone else know about that sort of thing??

Haunter- the farmer's almanac predicts for the whole year, although it's more generalized.

Even a smaller scale eruption can affect the temperatures for some time, depending on how much gas and material makes its way into the upper atmosphere. The gas and debris from the Icelandic volcano is not reaching that altitude, so it doesn't look like it will have any significant affect on temperature. The '91 Pinatubo eruption, however, did release enough gas and material into the upper atmosphere to alter the temps.

Long range forcasts are completely useless. Someone posted a link to a few last year on about Oct. 1. I followed those stupid things religiously hoping for some kind of positive info. One day it was going to be sunny, the next a slight chance of rain, the next a wash out and repeat.

My local weather man even screwed it up big time last year. They said there was a 90% chance of rain on Halloween. So I moved my party to the 7th. of Nov. After calling everyone and having them call everyone else (a huge pain in the butt) He changed the forcast to Sunny about 2 days before Halloween. and he was right it was beautiful.

Moral of the story? Those things don't know anymore than you do right now. Last year had some pretty strange weather though, at least here.

I ive in Florida and they can't even forecast what the weather will be tomorrow and get it right muchless 6 months from now... If you don't like the weather here in Florida, just wait 5 minutes and it will change..

I'd say to just wait and see, not speculate what might be the case regarding the weather If I had to, I'd venture a guess and say cold and windy
