Bodies would be transported to the morgue by gurney so maybe an actual bed would confuse the morgue theme? Or perhaps an area in the morgue were medical experiments are conducted ... poorly, and thus the need to proximitey within the morgue?
What doesn't kill you can still make you walk funny.

Ice, we did a morgue for 2009 complete with a real embalming machine. I have pictures in the 2009 link of my signature. There might be something there you can use.

Don't forget the stacks of body bags and try to find some X-ray prints that you could backlight. Bloody sinks, tools, and countertops with mold also work really well at making it all seem really gross. Finally, don't forget about smell. Scent is a powerful fear activator!

Maybe you could have an organ harvest room. Except the donors are still alive.

very poor lighting. maybe rusty tools. cracked tiles on the walls. dirty floors. I think any medical place that was dirty and condemned looking would be nasty!!

Junit nailed it! That's what you want to go for. Think "SAW" and you're on the right track. Dirty, grimmy, grungy, etc. Poor lighting, or flickering floursecent bulbs are always nice. broken Subway tiles and layers of discolored stains on the walls. Exposed pipes is a plus.

That Saw scene is so disturbing! That reminds me of a shot I took of the autopsy scene at The Darkness on their recent tour:

You could have a live actor on the bed, either bleeding profusely and begging for help or an insane person in a straight jacket being all crazy.

Life is too short to not do what makes us happy, keeps us sane, or both.
