My Halloween didn't go very well. My hubby and I planed an awesome Halloween party and invited all of his friends. I'm new to the area and I decided we would just invite his work buddies and that would be it. Suddenly, people at my work started acting interested. I passed out invites and many people said they'd love to come. Halloween night and Steve's friends are rolling in. Not a single person from my job shows up. Kinda ruined my Halloween. Really ruined it. I haven't been on Halloween Forum since.
I figured I needed something to bring me back around to my usual spooky self, so I planned a trip. I'd been dying to see the Tim Burton exhibit at the MOMA and I found out that the Addam's Family musical would be starting this month as well. I had the gothiest trip planned.
But not planned well enough!
I had been delaying buying the entrance tickets to the Tim Burton exhibit until a few other plans were solid, but I waited too long. Now they are sold out for the 17th! That is the only day we can go as our time is very limited. So now I'm pulling my hair out. The reason for my trip and the thing that would lift my Halloween spirits is gone. I can't believe I will be going to New York, the trip I've been looking forward to for months, and I won't be seeing the one thing that was so important to me. I am so sad now. I thought you all would understand.

PS,
Not sure where in New York you're going to be... But I've been DIEING to check out this place for years... Maybe you could check it out on your trip?

maybe you can try will call on tickets the day of? I know venues typically reserve seats and usually sell out the rest, the day of or just before the show a whole block of tickets will be available. They are reserved for family and friends of performers or people the agents are trying to impress, the press, and critics. Try posting craigslist ads to see if someone local might be willing to sell you theirs for the night or checking evilbay for tickets? I got into the pit on 2 metallica shows by showing up just before the show and got them at face value.

Happy Scientist, I am sorry that the people from your work let you down like that- it would of hurt my feelings too!
as far as the trip, I think that the Jeckle and Hyde thing sounds interesting- also, what Kittyvibe said, check the tickets once you get there, good luck, I hope you get feeling better soon, ,
I know it is easier said than done, but try not to let the thoughtless people at your job take away the fun of Halloween, it's their loss!

I totally know where you're coming from (party turnout burnout)
.
I would definitely go to the ticket sales area and beg, plead, whatever to see if they could let you in. I know museums do the tickets to control crowds, but honestly I can't see them not having some reserves!
I agree about checking craigslist, ebay, posting a plea on the local sites to see if anyone has some tickets they'd like to sell.
What about making a sign that says something like "only in town today - exhibit was sold out and desperately want to go - anyone want to sell their tickets for xx?" or something and standing outside the museum for a little? Put a reasonable price (that you'd be willing to pay) and maybe someone that is local would be interested in coming back another day and sell you their tickets.I'm a Halloween Bride! 10/31/2002

What a bummer. Sorry to hear about your party turnout and now the Burton exhibit
I hope you will be able to find tickets. But if you can't i've heard a lady at work talk about the Jekyll Hyde place, she was impressed.
