    I'm looking for some fake pumpkins but can't seem to find any. It seems like around the holiday they're EVERYWHERE but I can't seem to find any on the web. Its for a big project so I'll probably upwards of 30 of average size fake pumpkins. I don't need "funkins" as they're kinda spendy and I won't be carving them. In an ideal world I'd love to get some fake fairy tale pumpkins but I don't think I'll have that kinda luck at a descent price. Anyone know where I can get them online, either fairy tale, or traditional fake pumpkins?

    Have you thought of trying to make your own from paper mache', it takes a little time but for the most part is cheap, and you can make them to the size you want. Just an idea.

    I bought a lot of the Michaels pumpkins after Halloween for pretty cheap. They really discount the cost to get rid of them.

    The biggest problem is they will kill you on the shipping.
    I have no idea where to get them. Making a mold would probably be the best bet with some two part foam.

    you could sew them theres a very easy way
    ~cut a circle out of fabric ~on your first try start small about dinner plate size until you get the hang of things (buy muslin 1.24 a yard)
    ~do a running stitch all the way around the circle about 1 inch down from the cut part of the fabric~
    ( use button thread Walmart 98 cents )
    ~until you have what looks like a deflated balloon
    Leave the tale of thread hanging for now, you will tie off later,~
    ~open up the hole created by the running stitch and stuff with poly stuffing ( Walmart 2$ bag) stuff until tight, tight, tight, ~
    heres the tricky part but if you do it enough, it'll get easier
    the whole atop is wide by know do to stuffing
    ~Pull the thread, this will be super tough , but just keep pulling till you have a quarter size or smaller hole,~
    ( for larger pumpkins)try your best to tie off the top keeping the quarter size hole open you may need a friend to help, this part needs muscle.

    ~once the tie off is done, go outside and find a stick, branch , something you can use for the stem I use parts of grapevine wreathes , they already have the curly Q'S on them.~
    ~Hot glue stem into the top opening and your almost done~
    Get some jute( Walmart 3$ a spool) ~ tie the end to the stem, wrap the whole ball in sections ( think and orange, ) with each section pull tight making indention as you go ,again you'll need muscle, after you've made 6 or so section tie off back at the stem~
    Paint
    ~ 98cent bottle of acrylic paint, again Walmart and any cheap acrylic will do
    The best way is to wash the pumpkin in a mixture of water and paint
    I do large quantities so oz. bottle and 2 cups of water for 5 or more* scale down if you doing smaller pumpkins
    mix the paint and water, grab an old 2 inch or so paint brush and dip, shake the brush into cup and paint, if you do this during the hot summer these will dry in 3 hours ( I'm in Texas so for me thats all it takes) ~
    ~ once dry , hot glue Spanish moss around the bottom of the stem to cover up flaws from thread ect, again Walmart( 2 $ a bag)
    You add leaves from silk vines or make your own with the muslin you purchased
    just cut out a leaf, wash it green and hot glue into place
    and your done.
    if your interested I have a more advance way of doing this and I'll email or post instructions if you'd like you'll need a sewing machine thought.

    check out my photo album for pics of Fabric pumpkins

    out of one yard of muslin you can get 3 large size pumpkins that look awesome and cost basically nothing compared to funkins
    lts see
    muslin one yard =1.30
    button thread=1.00
    paint =.98
    stick =free
    jute= 3.00
    spanish moss= 3.00 or you could use dried grass= free
    total $ 9.28
    FOR 3 pumpkins

    You could make your own out of layers of foam glued together. Then trim & detail after it's completely dried.

    You reminded me about my Funkin in the attic. Here's my "Ghoul Friday" version I did up today:

    Unfortunately, I think the supply of Funkins goes away post Halloween 50% off sales.

    It works amazingly well and the options are limitless.
    You can use scrap foam.
    You can make them any size or shape you like.
    You can hollow them out and carve or leave solid.

    Good luck!
