I have actually no idea! But I've noticed some phenominal props that used Monster Mud, So I thought to try my hand at it. Detailed comments would be appreciated! I'm planning on making a Chicken Wire Lighthouse

we got a five gallon bucket of construction joint compound. or drywall compound.

when we wanted color we added it with paint. when we wanted a little extra texture, we added sand.

you will have to coat it to weatherproof it more than likely and use super small chicken wire...the kind with small holes. possibly wrap the wire in burlap or something then use the mud.

An alternative to Monster Mud is a 50/50 mixture of latex paint and white glue. I actually prefer it, since it dries lighter and more like plastic than plaster (and sure smells better). Plus, it is very waterproof. Our Death Tree has been outside in the sun and rain and sprinklers for months, and it hasn't changed a bit.

What color latex paint do you prefer, and what color is the finished product?

My question is where do you find enough white glue to keep from stealing all of your kids glue for school.

I have found many uses for monster mud:

Add stiffness and structure to cloth: Larger items I scoop it out and smear onto both sides of the cloth. It takes several days to dry. Small items I drop into the mm bucket and smear to coat thoroughly. I do this procedure for items I'm putting on a tombstone.

Texture: I roll this onto plywood to cover up the grain of the wood. Depending on what I want it to look like, I either roll it thick so it looks grimy or smoother to make it look like metal. See my tutorial for Steampunk: Painting Faux Metal - Steampunk

Rust: I use rust colored mm and use a small roller and randomly dabble it on. Here's a picture of a treatment of rust to a fogger:

And even more rust applied to a rotating Christmas tree stand:

Not to hijack this thread but I have a question for Terra. Once the MM is mixed, can you save it if it is covered up? Obviously not a year or anything, but maybe a few weeks to a month?

Mine kept at least a year. I used it up so I don't know if it would have lasted longer. I just reseal the bucket and good-to-go!
