For me it's creating the image in my head in the real world. I really think my favorite aspects of Halloween is in the details that will stick with a kid and with their accompanying adults: the smell, the sights, the emotions evoked by a display.

For me it is getting the neighbors involved with my haunt....I do a Haunted Pirate Ship theme and I invite all the neighbors to a "Pirate" party at my house. Everyone dresses up as pirates and they become part of the live "Crew" for my haunt....
!!!
We live on a hill and didn't get many ToT's when we first moved here....we went from about a dozen kids the first year (2005) to around 200+ last year....
We are now known as the "Pirate Ship House" around town and I have had many visitors to my haunt tell me that it looks like a scene right out of Disneys' Pirates of the Caribbean movies....
!!!!
Thank ye matey, from the bottom of me scurvy heart......"One Eye'd" Mick
The ships' doctor warned me that I've been partaking in too much wine, women and song and told me that I should cut back a bit.........I am really going to miss the singing.....

Creating
Scaring
Watching the laughter after the "Jump"
The chuckles and giggles as they read my tombstones
The kudos from my peers
It's truly Halloweeny up here in the Northeast at that time o year
The breeze through the trees, the rustle of dried leaves, a cool snap in the air, and then somethings there!
Ahhh, I love this thing of ours.

For me it is the whole concept of Halloween. The kids, the parents, the costumes, sights, sounds, etc. I have used my vacation time every year for Halloween due to the time it takes to get everything ready but over the years I have found myself starting earlier every year. I am just getting started this week for Halloween...lol
