I enjoy being able to create a unique atmosphere that you can't find at any other time/place on earth other than during this time of year. ...the look of the people that enjoy everything, but they have no clue how long it takes. ...the fact that I am still learning and everything I do is something that I've never done before and am amazed that it's possible.

It's hard to pick a favorite, but one of the things I look forward to is the morning after Halloween. I count the number of pieces of candy left on my walkway and driveway caused by children running away as fast as they can. I use this to calculate the success of my setup.

The ego stroking ...
When the cars slow down or better yet , they stop and get out and take a picture...that's when you know you've done something cool and that folks apprecitate the effort you put into keeping their youthful memories alive.

I always love the rush when someone is about to be scared. I love to provide a safe place for people to get the sense of danger, scream their heads off, then go out and tell their friends it was totally lame (you know who I'm talking about) even though you totally scared the pee out of them! I love the little children having fun. I like to scare them, not Scar them for life.

I love the creative aspect of it. Thinking of a prop in my head and then seeing it develop as I build it and then ultimately improve on it over the next couple years. Most recent example of this process was finally building my electric chair prop this year (a prop I've pictured in my head since I started doing this 5 years ago) and improving the gallows prop that I built a couple years ago.
Some people paint, some people write stories..... I guess I build Halloween props.
Another thing I must confess to enjoying quite a bit is how my rep around the neighborhood has spread. Last Halloween was only the 2nd year in this neighborhood but I overhead several people say as they were walking up things like "Oh I remember this house from last year" or "this is even bettter than last year" or my personal favorite "oh this is the guy who scared the crap out of me last year"
. And at one point last year I had about 50-60 people standing out in the street looking and taking pictures. Stuff like that is just going to inspire me to keep building.
